dupreeh: "[Having a stand-in again] is taking its toll on the team"

The first day of the ECS Season 4 Finals has come to an end, with Astralis claiming the first seed out of group B. Following the last match, we talked to Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen about playing with a stand-in, beating FaZe and his AWPing.

Playing with Ruben "RUBINO" Villarroel for the second event in a row, Astralis impressed by taking wins over both Cloud9 and FaZe in their opening day of the tournament in Cancun, Mexico.

As the day came to a close, we sat down with Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and got his insight on playing with stand-ins for a long period of time, the comeback against Cloud9 and taking down FaZe on Overpass.

will they stop complaining, Rubino and Dennis have been their best players. Sure it might work better tactically but this is just pathetic really, who would want to play as a stand-in for them if this is all they moan about. Sounds like some kind of excuses to me.

Maybe rubino had just good game. I think you missed the fact that device is a star player and playing overpass against faze is rly hard without best awper on overpass and they still won so don't talk shit about them.

True, also this woulda coulda shoulda tweet after BLAST by gla1ve. They have a mental coach. What is she doing the entire day? Do they need also a social media coach and a coach who shows them how to act like a professional? They keep moaning and crying. They should think before they start hitting the buttons on their smartphones or giving interviews. I don't care about who is top-fragging, whether it is a stand-in or not, but I care about this kind of unprofessionalism by these cry-babies. The only thing they actually can say is that "we could do better" but not expressing what could've happened if... These speculations are childish. As if Bayern Munich cried after the final vs. Chelsea in their own arena saying "if Schweinsteiger or Rafinha or Robben in overtime hits the penalty, we would've won". Or "if we would've had a better striker than Gomez". Who cares? You didn't so respect the opponents for being better and you couldn't manage to beat them. As if SK Gaming complained after ELEAGUE Major 2017 that they had to play with fox. No, they didn't. They were respectful and thanked fox for doing the best he could and were looking forward to the next opportunities. Arrogantralis.

Astralis are playing some of the most structured and systematic CS in the scene, and you don't think it's exhausting to change it all up when having 3 different stand-ins? You are all so hateful.

It might be the most structured (I think that SK are even better structured) but Arrogantralis are continuously moaning. WE ALL know that they could do better with dev1ce. No need to cry about it in every situation or interview they can.

The worst part is that duppe actually elaborates his statement perfectly and people still can't comprehend his message. At no point did he hint at their standins playing bad, but it's obvious that the main core has to completely reinvent themselves with a new player. Astralis like a somewhat structured approach, and now they have to toss it all in the bin and just forget everything they've pracced. That's just mentally exhausting regardless of how the standins perform - especially because you can't rely on the standins knowing how the main core likes to play, so it all ends up in a random pug style. The comfort of knowing each others' peeks, timings etc is just gone. Anyone who's been playing at a decent level understands this.

Yeah +1. I just think most of the haters are too young to understand the complexity of Astralis' situation because they've never tried anything but solo queuing on faceit. I've known the astralis players since before they were paid to play, and at NO point on their road from bottom to top did they lose their touch with reality. They're humble and hardworking. People always ask for pros to be honest and sincere, but they can't handle it after all.

Closed within 90 secs. Are you serious Peter? Or just a fucking retard? Ye sure, I have no doubt it's shit with a stand in... But that doesn't stop new tactics. Cut the bull. You're there to play and chill. Great. A lot of the teams are I expect. But why are you openly stating this. You should not be disclosing this, as far as anyone outside the team is concerned you're there to do your best and win. Fucking idiot, good PR for the team.

All this hate against Astralis in every thread about them. Seriusly, think about if they read them - they are real people you know. You guys are so toxic for no real reason. Astralis players haven't talked shit about any of their stand-ins, but talked about playing with a stand-in in general. Both dennis and Rubino have expressed that the Astralis players are a blast to play with and been really suportive. So stop being buthurt on their behalf.
