Nations ranking for ENC 2009

ESL announced the return of European Nations Championship in 2009, but with a big reduction in prize money.

Today ESL announces the nations ranking for ENC 2009, deciding who is in directly for the main round and who will have to qualify. Countries have been receiving points for their performance in the last seasons, based on 2006, 2007 and 2008 results; the ranking decides which six teams qualify directly for the main round.

A total of twenty-seven teams have been ranked, hence to the ones to receive points. Teams ranked at the bottom of the rankings qualify for Qualification Round 1, which will begin on the 20th of April. Moving up the list, teams next in line have qualified for Qualification Round 2, while the last series of teams below the top six qualify for Qualification Round 3. Check out the ranking here.

Top six are countries doing well in ENC for the past three seasons. Last year’s winner Sweden, including Denmark, Germany, Poland, Norway and Spain, are all qualified for the Main Round of ENC 2009.

1. Sweden Sweden - 66,50 points
2. Denmark Denmark - 57,75 points
3. Germany Germany - 54,75 points
4. Poland Poland - 50,50 points
5. Norway Norway - 41,75 points
6. Spain Spain - 33,75 points

We will be covering the entire ENC 2009, bringing you all the action, as the best European nations fight one another.

i think theese "nations" events are really boring...i mean why not have real clans? who wants to see some mix vs another mix...it is so random and boring imo :)

it shouldn't be boring as long as the teams represent their countries properly.

If you take a look at the structure ESL using, it is much like soccer. National teams in any sport would still be some sort of mix. On that account, keep in mind that these national teams spend time together prior to matches against other nations.

ye but this isnt like soccer....the best would be to take the best team from all countries then you have the best National team you can have...but when you can have max 3 players from 1 team it will not be the best team from that country. Sure maby they have some time to practice but they will never be as good as a real team.

The three player limit is great if you ask me. For some countries, it allow up and coming talents to get a chance on the squad. I get your points, but we already have Extreme Masters, dont need another one, ENC is great if you ask me, even though I'd still watch EM over ENC any day.

I think the concept is great. And it's probably more intresting for the media to know there is national teams playing eachother and personally I would love to see Sweden beat Denmark rather than SK beating mTw.

i know what you mean, but the difference is imo that top soccer teams are all mixed nationalities, whereas top cs teams are usually just one nationality (mouz is an exception). i don't know a top soccer team that is just one nationality. but whatever :)
