THREAT steps down from NiP; pita joins

NiP have announced that their head coach Björn "THREAT" Pers has resigned from the position, and to replace him, they hired Faruk "pita" Pita.

Björn "⁠THREAT⁠" Pers joined Ninjas in Pyjamas at the start of 2016, with his addition linked to a reinvigorated look the team presented in the first half of the year. The Swede's impact on the team was limited after the Valve coaching rule change, but he was still a part of the squad that went on to win big tournaments such as StarSeries S2 Finals and IEM Oakland 2016 and 2017.

THREAT has decided to take a step back

Ninjas in Pyjamas said their farewells to THREAT, who decided to "pursue other things in life", with the following words in the announcement:

"Björn "THREAT" Pers joined us right at the start of 2016 with the intention of relieving some of the burden from the in-game leader, allowing players on the server to focus more on fragging and less on tactical decisions. And though it’s been a fruitful two years, Pers has now decided to step down as the coach for NiP to pursue other things in life. We want to express our gratitude towards you Björn. You have had a significant impact on our players and organization. We’d also like to wish you the best of luck in life and let’s hope our paths cross again."

Replacing THREAT is Faruk "⁠pita⁠" Pita, who worked as Ninjas in Pyjamas's coach in 2014-2015, leading them to a Major victory and two Major grand finals. The organization praised pita's experience in the field an announced that they are looking to add another member to their coaching staff, alongside their head coach and mental coach:

"Pita was one of the first in the world to coach a professional CS:GO team and has since then been pursuing a career in finance, coaching in North America, improving and soaking up knowledge to once again jump on board the Ninjas in Pyjamas organization to aid our team in the pursuit of once again becoming the best team in the world. Glad to have you back, Faruk, and we hope all you Ninjas once again give him a warm welcome to the NiP family!"

"In late 2017 we found success following the inclusion of a full-time mental coach to our coaching staff, which contributed to our victory at IEM Oakland. We are therefore happy to announce that we will be continuing with Jens Hofer as responsible for all mental coaching for our players and teams for the long term."

"In addition to Faruk "pita" Pita and Jens Hofer working full-time with our CS:GO team, we are now in the process of recruiting a third member to our CS:GO coaching staff. The role will be an analytical and strategic coaching position, in order to improve our game preparations, opponent studies, as well as our own strategic and tactical depth."

Yeah its garbage now. They had to win vs ldlc,cloud9,fnatic in playoffs. All those teams are considered top5 at that time. They had one of the hardest major runs ever.

ldlc were one of the favourites to win that major. If you had read player's interviews and tweets ldlc was super good in scrims too. May be cloud9 was not top 5 but they were too strong,they defeated dignitas and that was one of shroud's best event.

Actually , yes fnatic does deserve a major. They started from scratch after roster changes and have come so far with a new igl that they can go toe to toe with top teams. They have made it to the playoffs of every tournament that they have played in since the roster switch , and in the next few months they will start making it to the finals and even win tournaments. NIP on the other hand has been trash (except at iem Oakland). They have been invited to pretty much every tournament and they fail to even make the playoffs and even if they do make it it's because of some luck by facing shit teams on their way

Before Threat joined they were stubborn AF. relying on old strats, letting their emotion run wild. They werent adapting to the new meta of CS the other top tier teams were. Threat showed them new strats and how to keep their heads in check, all which could've been done with their old coach. ps: I was a hardcore NIP fan. I just see it how it really is. And Nips biggest problem Always was the constant swapping of teammates. Maikelele was good. Allu was good. Pyth was good and Friberg was good. They replace teammates so that new teams have to adjust to their new gamestyle and it works for the most part, until they start catching on which is why they kicked friberg and added Rez. This line-up wont last, because teams will catch on and adjust accordingly.

I think Rez really could be the future for NiP. I am not sure about Draken though. His playstyle is hard to balance (hitting insane shots, missing the easiest). If they find a way to utilize his strengths, a way that his weaknesses are covered, it can work. For F0rest and get_right it only depends on their motivation. Are they hungry, and willing to give a 100% again and again, after failing so many times? For Xizt, I don't think he is good enough. "Threat showed them new strats and how to keep their heads in check, all which could've been done with their old coach." I do not agree. I do not think they would be able to just change how they view the game out of thin air. I am not saying they can't replace Threat now, just that he brought alot to the team. From "just playing", to actually having a plan. IMO NIP has been THE BEST(SK is also up there) anti-eco team under Threat. It is far from certain someone else would be able to make them that good. Take Faze, possibly best lineup of all teams, yet they lose alot of unnessecary rounds(against forcebuys, stacks etc). Rounds that should be won 9/10 times. And they have arguably a better IGL than NiP.
