Official: Kjaerbye replaces k0nfig in North squad

North have formally confirmed that Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye will replace Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke on the team's roster.

Kristian "⁠k0nfig⁠" Wienecke steps down from North's line-up after three straight events with below-average ratings, with a recent report from Dust2.dk suggesting that the 20-year-old will take a break for an indefinite period due to personal reasons.

Markus "⁠Kjaerbye⁠" Kjærbye will reunite with Mathias "⁠MSL⁠" Lauridsen after playing under the North leader while the team still represented dignitas, whom he left in May 2016 to join Astralis as part of a deal that saw René "⁠cajunb⁠" Borg move in the opposite direction.

k0nfig is no longer part of North's active roster

This is North's second roster change in the post-Major period, after Daniel "⁠mertz⁠" Mertz was promoted from the academy roster to replace cajunb, who sits on the bench together with k0nfig.

North will play their first match with the new roster in the European closed qualifier for IEM Katowice, which takes place this weekend. They are also confirmed for cs_summit 2, which will run from February 8-11.

With Kjaerbye's addition, North now have:

My friend core of Astralis are dev1ce, dupreeh and xyp and it will soon be their fifth year of playing together.Kjaerbye was just talented youngster who was there to frag and gla1ve is a good in game leader who led them to the title of being best team in the world.He did team a favour with his exit.

This is an exciting development. Mertz is really good and kjaerbye is definitely on par with an in form k0nfig. This roster should be able to accomplish great things. The question will be who goes into astralis?

After having watched literally every match of this major, I've come to the belief that this major was filled with cheats. Up until the finals weekend, that is. Teams like QBF, a bunch of nobodies with fishy clip after clip, beating top teams and advancing undefeated. G2, the french "superstar" team on a "revival", suddenly playing out of their minds, again with suspect clips and fishy circumstances surrounding the matches. These teams all went to complete and utter shit when it came to play on the main stage, where I suspect the anti-cheat procedures were taken more seriously. It explains why C9 struggled early on, and were able to shine towards the end as the (imo) suspect teams failed to win anything on the main stage. G2's "tech" pause vs. C9 where there was a "sound" issue, and the resulting "SIT DOWN" from a visibly annoyed and pissed off admin. I'm not saying these people are definite cheats, that's impossible for me to factually know, but the mounting evidence and odd circumstances makes me think this is a likely scenario. I had a hard time watching this major with all of the stuff that I saw which seemed very blatant, up until the finals when we got to see legit matches. Anyways, what'd you guys think? I'm probably not the only one that noticed this stuff, but I'm sure plenty of you will disagree with me. Couldn't make a new post, so I copied and pasted it here. If anyone wants to make it a discussion please make a new thread.
