NAF completes Liquid move

Liquid have completed the signing of Keith "NAF" Markovic from Renegades, both organisations have announced.

The Canadian player will be stepping into the shoes of Josh "⁠jdm64⁠" Marzano, who had been part of the team since June 2016, when he was signed from CLG as part of a trade deal that saw Kenneth "⁠koosta⁠" Suen move in the opposite direction.

Keith "⁠NAF⁠" Markovic is no stranger to Liquid, whom he briefly represented in early 2015 before being replaced by Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski. He went on to play for teams like Luminosity and Conquest before signing for OpTic, with whom he would win ELEAGUE Season 2.

NAF is Liquid's newest player

In September, he signed for Renegades for an undisclosed fee, and he produced some of his best Counter-Strike with the Australian team, averaging a 1.27 Rating on LAN. While playing under Renegades' banner, the team most notably won the StarLadder i-League Invitational #2, in Shanghai, after beating Virtus.pro in the final.

This is the second roster change for Liquid in just a few months, after replacing Peter "⁠stanislaw⁠" Jarguz with Lucas "⁠steel⁠" Lopes in November. Due to the roster rules, the former Immortals member could not play at ELEAGUE Major Boston, where the North American team were sent packing in the New Legends Stage with a 1-3 record, with coach Wilton "⁠zews⁠" Prado acting as a substitute.

I think it was Immortals already, no? Anyways, this what i remember too, toxic as fuck. But Optic atmosphere was somewhat toxic too. Stanislaw, tarik and rush don't seem like calm guys overall. Part of it was that at one point he was considered online, since his online results were crazy but his LAN showings weren't that great. This is a hold over from CSS, when he was also quite a bit younger.

Probably Nitro and NAF will use the AWP depending on the situation. Both are good with it. Most tier 1 pros can AWP good enough where you'll start to see teams relying less on dedicated awpers.

tier 1. contender for titles all time, globally. gambit was major final. this didint make them tier 1. they won some smaller events but they wasnt tier 1. liquid makes mostly in international events cuz na qualifiers. qualifiers have usually 2 spots and c9/imt/liquid always fight for them(sk direct invite). u are retarded if u think liquid really is tier1 and better than all those tier2 eu/cis teams who dont get spots in bigger events cuz not inviting and qualifying cuz only 2 spots. harder for them get higher in ranking when cant get in big events. na teams rankings get boosted hard and liquid top ten dont matter for shit cuz if they played full time in eu and eu qualifiers they would rarely make in big events

Comparing his playstyle from Immortals -> Liquid, he hasn't really done anything worth mentioning, which is a pretty big step down from what he achieved with the Immortals line up. Didn't live up to the hype kind of thing.

I cant help but feel like this will fuck everything up. Nitr0 should not be in game leading anymore, and they had better use NAF effectively. This team seems to lack direction right now, partly because they havent played as a full squad for months but also because I cant make sense of most of these roster moves Also renegades is fucked. Sorry to see JDM go. I really like him, no matter what team he plays on. I do think that overall the kills will edge up on the team because NAF is definitely an impact player, but I think this is a bit of a risky move. I understand the criticism JDM has had when it comes to rifles, but he could be quite good on that AWP. I guess we'll see how this works out. It could go either way. Team comms will have to look crisp and clean but there is the potential. On paper the pieces are really good. In this respect, on paper NAF was a good pickup. I'm hopeful. I want to see Liquid and JDM do well, so hopefully he lands on a good team and has more opportunities at large LAN's.

What are people's thoughts on RNG bringing in Sgares as an IGL and moving Nifty to full time AWP? This would allow Nifty to fully focus on his AWP (which he's already quite good at) and then Sgares brings in some much needed experience and leadership. Renegades are probably the worst top 30 team when it comes to anti-ecos.

I would say they need firepower. They are a decent T2 team but with NAF they were getting some big wins over really decent teams. Dont think its realistic to get a guy like sgares and just say Nifty or jks/AZR will become the big "star player". They lucked out getting NAF and just hope they can get another T1 player in the squad. The atter/jayz/nexa lineups lacked massive firepower.

Not really... They will upset teams from time to time and will keep winning the Asia minor - pretty much same as with NAF and before him if you discount Starladder which they probably would have won anyway with how HR and VP were performing at the time. They could be better by this move even but it all depends on their 5th player. NAF had good stats but the team didn't get all that better with him. Ofcs HLTV only cares about stats and not the end team result so I won't try and argue with you.

If RNG don't pick up an IGL and make Nifty only focus on the AWP, I can't see them keeping their current form. Jks was good when he was star but he wasn't remotely close of delivering numbers as much as NAF did. As for Liquid, depending on how they decide to manage the AWPing, they might lose a bit of firepower but I think that is a nice improvement.

jdm being removed was long overdue. I like him as a person but like cajunb, players who can't make a significant impact without an AWP are slowly being phased out of the game. GL to NAF though, much deserved.
