jdm64 to attend IEM Katowice with Liquid

Josh "jdm64" Marzano will play for Liquid at IEM Katowice, the player has revealed on social media.

The 27-year-old will play for Liquid one last time at IEM Katowice, replacing their newest member, Keith "NAF" Markovic, who is seemingly ineligble to compete with the team after having qualified for the same event under Renegades.

Liquid completed the year on a rather tough note, with mixed results at IEM Oakland, the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals and the ECS Season 4 Finals, with the team being unable to field Lucas "steel" Lopes at the ESL event due to the league's roster lock.

To make matters worse, Liquid were also forced to use their coach, Wilton "zews" Prado, as a stand-in at ELEAGUE Major Boston, where the North Americans finished 12th-14th after losing to Vega Squadron in the fourth round of the New Legends Stage.

jdm64 will play for Liquid one last time in Katowice

Just two days ago, Liquid announced that they had signed NAF as their starter - a decision that came as a surprise to Josh "jdm64" Marzano, who did not think a roster change was needed since the team had had no real practice with their starting five.

"We had been going back and forth between practicing with zews and steel, and we were never able to consistently practice and grow as a set five, which is what frustrates me the most," he wrote in a Twitlonger post.

"When we got back from the Major (where we exceeded our expectations), it felt really good to finally start working towards improving as a team. Over the past three months, I have worked hard to develop into a more well-rounded player and think that I have made a lot of progress. I’ve never been more confident in myself and my game play.

"With that said, I know there have been plenty of moments with Liquid where I could have done better. I could sit here and give you a million reasons why I didn’t perform, but, in the end, it doesn’t matter.

"What really matters is that I’ve taken those moments and used them to become a better player and teammate. No regrets for me besides ever doubting myself. I have learned that doubting yourself only limits yourself, and that is definitely a mistake I will not make again.

"I will get back to streaming more often and prepping for IEM Katowice, which will be my last event with Liquid.," he wrote

"After we win Katowice (we probably will now), I plan on continuing to compete. I see myself improving daily, and am confident that I can add value to any team, if given the chance."

Liquid's squad looks as follows for IEM Katowice, which will run from February 27 through March 4:

United States Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski
Canada Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken
Brazil Lucas "steel" Lopes
United States Josh "jdm64" Marzano
United States Nick "nitr0" Cannella

Brazil Wilton "zews" Prado (coach)

Lol my buddy heard of the new OpTic lineup and he was like "LETSGOLIQUID" and I just said "FUCK YEAH!!!" He was a huge OpTic fan, then Snakeislaw left (who actually blocked me on fucking twitter for some odd reason), then Tarik and RUSH left for opportunities for C9 so he felt even more betrayed, and didn't really have a CS team he felt to root for anymore lol. But he's a huge fan of NAF who kinda got screwed over period. Glad he's part of the TL family now

This isn't a last chance, it's just an inconvenience for team Liquid. A good performance here will improve his chances of getting onto another roster, but he isn't likely to be near the upper end of the NA scene for a while. NAF is clearly a superior and more well rounded player, in a way that jdm64 isn't anymore. I hope he is able to improve his level and represent on a high level again. If he gets good and Ska drops off, C9 is a future possibility.

C9 wouldn’t take a chance on an older talent, at least from a CS perspective, like JDM. If something did change and they needed a new awper , they would likely look to buyout nifty (which they can easily do) or search for younger raw talent in the CS scene. There’s some pretty good players up and coming. I’m fairly certain JDM ends up on a Premier team

But what is there to achieve after skadaddy won the major? He has nothing to prove anymore, maybe he is now up to prove that he is the best daddy in the world and not just the best ska.

Don't think C9 will drop Ska for jdm considering Ska has a very high upper limit and to C9 that's good enough.

I didn't say they would, however if C9 fails to make much more impact and Ska has low ratings again, it wouldn't be unlikely for them to look for a more consistent option. Whether or not that's jdm is not very likely at the moment, as jdm's level has looked below average for a while now. I hope he reinvents himself and finds his way onto another premier team, but I don't see premier team looking for a slumping awper.

Liquid just need to keep 5 players so they can practice with each other and get to know each other's playstyle. They can't keep doing roster changes just because they perform poorly at one event. If they want to become a really good team they have to stick with the same people

Even though I've been spreading a lot of unnessary hate towards jdm. I'm kinda sad that he got kicked... Yes, hes been underperforming. Yes, it was prob the best due to him not improving fast enough. But I'm still not sure about this NAF thing... nitr0 AWPing/IGLing, and NAF and steel literally play the same role. Unless steel can go to a support role which I think we can all agree NAF indivdualy > steel. I'm still asumming that with time nitr0 will still end up being an IGL/entry T side, giving the AWP to Twistzz/NAF. And he can awp on ct side. nitr0-Entry IGL T / IGL AWP CT NAF-lurk/ AWP T / Rotator CT/ Sec AWP steel-support/Rifle T and CT EliGE- Second Entry Twistzz-Rifle/Sec AWP
