EnVyUs, BIG pull out of GG:Origin IEM Sydney Qualifier

To fill in the gap, the organizers have invited Singularity and LDLC to the qualifier.

The first two groups of the GG:Origin IEM Sydney 2018 Qualifier have already been played out, with Windigo and AVANGAR topping their respective groups and making into the second stage, the single-elimination bracket where they will be joined by invited teams such as Gambit and HellRaisers.

The start of group D was scheduled for yesterday, but last-minute, personal reason withdrawals from Envy and BIG put a hold on that. Replacing them will be LDLC and Singularity, ranked #39 and #44 respectively, which makes AGO the favorite to make it through to the playoffs now. The final team in group D is Dmitry "⁠hooch⁠" Bogdanov's EPG.

Group D's first match, LDLC - EPG, will be played out shortly, at 15:00 , with AGO - Singularity set to take place tomorrow at the same time.

dude, listen to shox fucking interview already, he explained why smithzz cant awp. nV: Ex6 SmithZz shox ZywOo RpK/kioShiMa (Ex6 wants 2 supportive players so he won't pick ScreaM and I'm sure it's a huge mistake) G2: Ex6 SmithZz shox kennyS NBK/bodyy (and it's again a huge mistake, bodyy suxx frags-wise, NBK doesn't believe in Ex6, and if to pick any available fifth it should be mixwell) shox is about to make another big mistake. I understand why Ex6 does it - it's his last chance to play with at least 1 T1 player, but he should always remember that they will easily kick him if they suck, and they will suck because of not enough firepower.

Ex6tenZ Tbh even SmithZz could. Just because he missed alot of shots a year ago, doesn't mean he is going to miss shots forever. All he needed was to take a short break and grind but he chose the easiest way out..

Don't forget that both NAF and nitr0 hit really many AWP shots, something that neither SmithZz nor Ex6 can do in CS:GO. shox can AWP - yes, but to me it doesn't look fine to make him AWP when there are at least 2 weaker riflers (Ex6 SmithZz) in the team and thus they do need the other teammates to make up for losing shox as a rifler. I don't think it's possible, Liquid have 4 good aimers and steel, while shox' team has at least 2 weak aimers. I doubt it will work, FaZe will easily rape them by run'n'gun.

Although this doesnt really seem to be a problem for them since KennyS might just join them, but I still think people are underestimating SmithZz, its not like he was bad since inception of CSGO, it was just that phase.. I could be wrong, but writing someone off after one bad phase is something Im not fond of!

Even if G2 fails, there should be at least 1 more guy to support shox. shox+kennyS is only 2 guys, while bodyy+apEX+NBK is 3 guys, 2<3. And if there's no 1 more supporter - kennyS can't leave G2 because of his contract.

shox and zywoo are heavy hitters, I would believe ex6tenz would prefer a consistent role player in his setup's. Thats also why in the leaked roster ex6tenz wanted to get zywoo and kenshax or whats his name, the latter doesnt seem like a heavy hitter to me.

him, with devoduvek for sure ! I dont really understand why thay always want to stick as a duo, even if they play good but i have the feeling devoduvek is stronger. A new real top 1 fr team would be looking good with some young blood in it. not all the past legend. I'm not saying they can't perform but you need sometimes to disrupt something if it's not working anymore.

honestly i think the problem is once again happy. i like him as a player. i think he still got the talent to be t1 as a player. as long as he is not leading tho. his attitude always destroy teams. also screams inability to motivate is also a huge issue. im fine with rpk and kio. they can still be t1 players in the right team. and devouduvek amanek and hadji can also be part of those teams. btw i think devo is a better rifler than amanek but i think amanek is more impactful than him.

??? We were talking about the new shox line up first of all, and secondly I don't know why you include 2 16-17 year olds in ex top players.

I agree that teams that rely on actual strats need team players rather than running'n'gunning stars. But without players that hit their shots against the likes of FaZe/SK/mouz you will not win, good strats may help you to plant a bomb for example, but if you're a mediocre aimer - you will get killed by NiKo, s1mple, coldzera no matter what you do. Ex6 and SmithZz are mediocre fraggers, shox is a good fragger, they need 1 good AWPer and 1 good fragger. I'm sure Ex6 won't pick ScreaM, he will rather pick RpK or kio, but I'm sure it won't work. SK even kicked TACO for not hitting enough shots. You do need smart strats, yes, but you also need to handle weapons.

sydney has very good crowd etc but half of the teams are tier 3, maybe semifinals and grand final will be enjoyable to watch but not groupstage

I enjoy watching groupstage of Tier 2-3 teams at LANs when they play against each other. Obviously Tier1 v Tier3 is pretty boring, but upsets can happen (see the last Major w/ QbF haha). They need to increase the prize-pool at Sydney to $500K. Problem is the stadium is likely to cost a lot more to rent for the duration than in most European countries, so they probably spend a lot of the proceeds towards that. I think we'll see next years in Melbourne anyway at Etihad stadium which seats 60K and could get really interesting. The sporting Organisation (AFL) who owns it is pushing hard for eSports, but mostly League at this stage.
