Astralis defeat FaZe to advance to semis in France

The quarter-final best-of-three series featuring Astralis and FaZe kicked off on Mirage where Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's squad started on the CT-side. FaZe picked up the pistol round victory by defusing the bomb. After losing the first two rounds, Astralis had an early weapon round and won it after Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz and Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander's opening kills.

The Danes secured two more rounds to take the lead, making it 3-2, but FaZe tied things up with a retake (3-3).FaZe were leading 5-3 when Andreas "⁠Xyp9x⁠" Højsleth and gla1ve, respectively, won 1vs2 clutches, tying the game at 5-5. Astralis continued their streak until the last round of the half and led 9-6 at halftime.

Astralis were victorious

Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács stepped up in the second half pistol round and got a triple kill in a post-plant situation to give FaZe their first T-side round. Astralis' response was swift as the Danes won the following round cleanly with Peter "⁠dupreeh⁠" Rasmussen's triple kill and extended their lead to 10-7.

FaZe fought back and tied the game at 10-10 with three round wins but Astralis' rigid defense prospered, resulting in five round wins in a row for the Danes (15-10). device & company closed out the map with a 16-11 scoreline.

FaZe have finished 5-8th

Nuke was the second map in the series and it kicked off with Astralis on the CT-side. dupreeh & Xyp9x both got double-kills in the pistol round to win it but Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard's triple kill in the following round made it 1-1. Later on, FaZe took a 3-1 lead and had a 3vs2 advantage in a post-plant situation in the fifth round but Xyp9x & device were able to turn it around to trail 3-2.

After losing the following round to trail 4-2, Astralis won eight of the last nine rounds in the half to lead 10-5 at halftime. Astralis had a thunderous start to the second half and won the first three rounds. They were in a disadvantageous position in the first weapon round but Xyp9x bailed them out to make it 14-5. The Danes won the map 16-5 and the series 2-0 to advance to the semi-finals at DreamHack Masters Marseille.
