North to put Academy project on hold - Report

North are set to put their Academy project on hold after being unable to find a fitting coach to oversee the squad, according to a report from Dust2.dk.

In February, North Academy were depleted to three players after Daniel "⁠mertz⁠" Mertz moved up to the main team alongside coach Alexander "⁠ave⁠" Holdt, and Nicklas "⁠gade⁠" Gade was loaned out to OpTic.

Since then they've been in shambles, as Allan "⁠AnJ⁠" Jensen, whom the academy team trialed for two weeks, ended up signing for Tricked instead, while Dennis "⁠sycrone⁠" Nielsen has been seen playing for Sprout throughout April.

North Academy is put on hold

The organization has been unable to find a coach who would help the Academy team grow, and look set to put the project on hold until they find a fitting candidate.

In the meantime, North are in discussions with organizations who are interested in the remaining duo, Johannes "⁠b0RUP⁠" Borup and Frederik "⁠acoR⁠" Gyldstrand, according to a statement given to Dust2.dk by North's sports director, Jonas "whimp" Svendsen:

"acoR and b0rup are talented players and have shown great dedication to our academy team, so we will make sure they are moving on. We are in dialogue with other teams who have shown interest in the two."

The Danish organization plans to release a public announcement regarding the academy project next week.

North main squad is an academy team, they are probably thinking of a new name for their actual academy team.

Academy teams were a really good idea, but they never had their space in the scene.. It would've been amazing if they made a league for them to face off, giving them chances to get to low tier lan tournaments.. This is probably also a warning shot to the main team.
