Legacy player Chris "yellow" McGillivray will sit out IEM Sydney due to work commitments, it has been revealed.

The 25-year-old will be replaced by Stefan "⁠Lacore⁠" Paunovic, who was a teammate of Peter "⁠BL1TZ⁠" Athanasatos in the SIN team who finished runners-up to Legacy at the Australian Esports Masters Season 2 Finals.

The news comes as a tough blow for the Australian team, who were one of the two last-minute replacements announced by ESL for the event following the withdrawals of Natus Vincere and Space Soldiers due to visa issues.

On Twitter, Legacy Business Manager Michael "EmJaeCaer" Carmody admitted that Chris "⁠yellow⁠" McGillivray's absence "ramps up our already steep difficulty curve", but stressed that the team "plan to make the most" of the experience.

Legacy OCE have been drawn in Group A, headlined by FaZe, Cloud9 and SK. In their first match in the double-elimination group stage, they will take on Renegades.

This means that Legacy OCE will attend the event with:

Hugh "⁠HUGH⁠" Anderson
Peter "⁠BL1TZ⁠" Athanasatos
Jay "⁠soju_j⁠" Jeong

Unfortunately due to work commitments @yellowCSGO wont be able to play at IEM Sydney, which has his teammates and mgmt super bummed that he is missing this opportunity. Send him love, he needs it right now.

most Australian cs teams aren't full time, actually i think renegades (maybe Order or TM) are the only one that is so to actually be able to live they have to work normally a full time job or at least a part time job and since this was a last minute call up he probably had the option of going to the event and losing his job or keeping his job that he needs to live and missing the event. any normal person would skip the event as being able to live is more important then playing in one event. thats the harsh reality of Australian cs its not like NA where the worst teams are getting a salary. sure these Au players might get payed by the orgs but its not going to be enough to support them especially in an expensive environment like Australia

I agree with this, Yellow is a decent bloke and I could imagine how he would feel if he read these comments, it’s really rough for them as they are a replacement team regardless of who else would’ve been a better replacement team. Also Legacy might bow out without coming close to a win but they’re a team and they were lucky enough to beat Tainted Minds in a BO3 and live in Australia which I assume is why they got the replacement invite.
