North let remaining Academy players go

After a fruitless search for the right coach, Johannes "⁠b0RUP⁠" Borup and Frederik "⁠acoR⁠" Gyldstrand have been released from North Academy, the organisation has confirmed.

As Dust2.dk reported last week, the decision to remove the two Danes means the North Academy roster is now empty.

b0RUP and acoR were the only players left after the squad was severely thinned out in February with Nicklas "⁠gade⁠" Gade being loaned out to OpTic and Daniel "⁠mertz⁠" Mertz moving up to the main squad alongside coach and analyst Alexander "⁠ave⁠" Holdt.

North have been unsuccesful in finding a fitting replacement for ave, says North Director of Esports, Jonas "⁠whimp⁠" Svendsen.

"The academy players are typically slightly younger and we, as an organisation, have a big responsibility in their personal development outside the server. Therefore, the ability to provide mentorship is something we attribute a high value in our future coach. We have put in a lot of energy the past months to find a new coach, but we have yet to find the right one."

"We are ready to wait for the right coach who embraces our values and has the right skillset, but this is not ideal for b0RUP and acoR. Therefore we have decided to allow b0RUP and acoR to find new teams, because they deserve a new home where they can develop their skills even more."

North will not be adding any new players to the academy team until the right candidate for the coaching position is found, the organisation confirms.
