lurppis: "we have potential to win"

Recently moving to the United States to play Counter-Strike with Evil Geniuses, Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen speaks about the move overseas, the team and the upcoming events.

He thought he retired for good, but some offers are just too good to turn down. Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen now reside in Plano, Texas. Currently preparing for ESWC Asia Masters and KODE5 Global Finals, Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen speaks with SK Gaming. Below is a snippet of what you will find in the full length interview.

Did you think about the fact that being in Team EG could actually increase your chances of attending international events given there is less competition for spots in the US when compared to Europe, when making your decision to join team EG?

No, I've said countless times before that I'm tired of attending events just to place 5-8th (which we've been doing for a couple of years now with roccat/GamePlay/Crack).

I joined EG because I know we have potential to win tournaments. Besides, there aren't many tournaments with qualifiers anymore (WCG I can't play in, ESWC is dead) and maybe two tournaments a year with invitations.

Do you and your team-mates have high hopes for ESWC Masters of Cheonan, or will it simply be treated as a trial of the new line-up? Realistically what do you hope to achieve at the ESWC Cheonan?

I'm confident we'll definitely advance from the first group stage, if we can limit our mistakes to a minimum I don't see why we couldn't make top 4.

You can read the entire interview by heading over to SK Gaming. You can watch Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen and the rest of Evil Geniuses at ESWC Asia Masters, where HLTV.org will be on site, bringing all of the action to your homes.

probably because most EU countries have the same population as US states. meaning collectively, its a pretty similar comparison (or used to be at least). In most things its EU vs USA. Take for example - golf (despite it being shit). :)

do NOT comment on how they're using the english/american language when you clearely have'nt got ANY clue when and where to use apostrophy. itd is wrong in SO many ways. If you'd look it up i'm pretty certain it's spelled it'd since it's two diffrent words(expressive combination) the right and refined sentence of yours would be it'd(it would) be great IF EG or mibr do successfully in this tournament. Learn your own language before you descriminate foreign approaches!!!! (BTW your mistakes is on black and white under the comment number #27 an direct reply to post #20)

Clearly* AN apostrophy not just apostrophy different* discriminate* "be great IF EG or mibr do successfully in this tournament." should be WOULD do successfully, or COULD, or maybe CAN. and there is problems with capitals and so on with the word I but I won't say anything about that since I don't do it all the time either, it is after all an inet forum. and btw, a funny little thing, I don't know if they use that "black and white"-expression in English it seems pretty straight translated from Swedish;)

This team has little hope. Their results have not improved with the addition of lurppis, whose own form leaves a lot to be desired. EG should just be silent for once instead of talking themselves up. They continue to render themselves open to ridicule when they can't back up their talk.
