Astralis ease past FaZe; to Pro League final

Astralis have advanced to the grand final at the ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals after defeating FaZe 2-0 (16-3 on Mirage and 16-6 on Inferno).

The second semi-final at the ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals in Dallas, Texas, USA featured Astralis and FaZe who kicked off their best-of-three game on Mirage. The Danes, who started on the CT-side, picked up the pistol round victory and won the following two anti-eco rounds (3-0).

FaZe responded in the first gun round with Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač and Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström's opening kills which gave them their first round. Even though FaZe got another round, Astralis were able to secure six rounds in a row to lead 9-2.

Astralis are through to the grand final

Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács's triple kill in the twelfth round made it 9-3 but Astralis hit back right away by winning the last three rounds of the half which they finished 12-3 ahead. Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz & company continued their dominant performance on the T-side and won the first four rounds of the second half to win the map 16-3.

The second map of the series was Inferno where Astralis started on the T-side and won the pistol round with Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander's triple kill. After securing two anti-eco rounds, Astralis won the first weapon round to make it 4-0.

FaZe are out of the tournament

Andreas "⁠Xyp9x⁠" Højsleth & gla1ve won a 2vs4 in the sixth round to extend Astralis' streak to six rounds. Three rounds later, FaZe picked up their first round victory but they were unable to secure consecutive rounds as Astralis closed out the half with a 13-2 scoreline.

The Danish squad won the second half pistol round with a 3vs4 retake, making it 14-2. Peter "⁠dupreeh⁠" Rasmussen & co. finished it off in the twenty-second round and won the map 16-6. With a 2-0 series victory, the Danes have advanced to the grand final.

Told you Astralis would win this one easily. That's why you should place 1st in your easy group - to not meet Astralis in semis. No impact from rain (esp. on mirage) & GuardiaN, karrigan forgot to practice on aim_botz before the match - no win. I'm glad that all the blind kids that said Astralis wasn't dominant are shutting up right now. GuardiaN 0-0-16 looks like he got tilted. FalleN to FaZe please.

Only question, why FalleN to FaZe? FalleN is a good but not great AWPer. Guardian is arguably the best. FaZe got wrecked in this series by the best in the world. You also have to remember, Astralis had a lot of time to analyze FaZe after the last tournament and during this one as well. An Astralis win was expected, but this performance doesn't mean FaZe is so bad to start swapping players just yet.

Fallen has been in a hard slump for months now, both as an AWPer and IGL. Faze is a loose team, if rain and GuardiaN don't show up than they don't win. Neither showed up, and the structured Astralis grinded out the win. I'm a bit sad, but well deserved, hopefully we get a banger of a grand final.

FalleN needs a change, so why not to go to another team? LUCAS1 and HEN1 are teamless, SK won't be left without a sniper anyway, and FaZe may get a change they need. And I feel like karrigan should try to may be give up the role to xizt temporarily, at least to prove all kids wrong about xizt's being a great IGL, then karrigan may play support. But yeah, looks like karrigan will stop calling only after being kicked.
