StarSeries i-League S5 viewer's guide

With StarSeries i-League Season 5 about to start, we have prepared a viewer's guide with all the information you need to know about the event, including schedule, prize distribution and on-air talent for the English broadcast.

Starting on Monday and running through Sunday at the National Palace of Arts, in Kiev, the next StarSeries event will feature 16 top teams, five invited and 11 determined by online qualifiers held in Europe, North America, Asia and the CIS.

Reigning StarSeries champions MOUZ will return to Kiev to defend their title, with Season 4 losing finalists Natus Vincere also in attendance. Astralis, FaZe and fnatic are among the big-name absentees after declining invitations to compete at the event, which will have $300,000 on the line.

mousesports will try to defend their Season 4 title

The tournament will begin with a best-of-three Swiss stage, with the top eight teams sealing passage to the single-elimination playoffs. you said a tournament with MORE than 6 top teams is tier1, yet you deny a team that is #7-8 in two separate rankings of being a top team, then by your logic its impossible to have more than 6 top teams so no event can possibly be tier1?

I don't think you know the difference between an actual top team and top10 teams. top teams are contenders, tier1 teams. sk and gambit arent contenders

I understand, but HLTV has to countfor something, its impossible to keep track of top contenders without it, especially recently where no team apart from Astralis and Faze (before Xizt) are consistent on a tourny by tourny basis

Also I didn't say anything about top 2 teams? As to my reply to r_hawk, the sarcasm was dripping off of that comment... Come on man.

Agreed - Na'Vi, SK or Mouz, but I do not believe in SK just yet so Na'Vi should only have (in theory) to worry about Mouz like at the last Starseries then.

Their fault for not coming, SK, NaVi, Mouz are going to other tourneys they're going to as well and they're playing this. Starseries has always been a nice tier 1-1.5 tournament and it'll be so this year as well.

No 3rd place decider, BO3 final (because semis and final the same day) instead of BO5, that's a bit disappointing. About 40 to 50% of the teams are pretty mediocre ones as well.

It's a tier 1- tier 1.5 tournament, it's the fault of the "top teams" to decline the invite for this, starseries has always been a nice tournament and even this year it will have no shortage of competition and good counter strike.
