HellRaisers, Na`Vi pick up first victories in Kiev
HellRaisers and Natus Vincere have won their first matches at StarSeries i-League Season 5 after defeating Renegades and VG.Flash, respectively.
The series between HellRaisers and Renegades began on the former's map pick, Inferno. After securing a flawless CT pistol, HellRaisers looked set to build on their 3-0 lead with the first gun round, but Karlo "USTILO" Pivac and Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad clutched a 2v4 post-plant situation to prevent that from happening.
Renegades took charge after that, losing just one round of the next eight. HellRaisers called a tactical pause, but they could not get anything from it as Noah "Nifty" Francis clutched a great 1v3 situation with an AWP. The Australian side then hit ten rounds before HellRaisers closed out the half with their fifth.
In the second half, Renegades won their second pistol of the map in a chaotic round, only to falter against HellRaisers' CZ-buy. Kyrylo "ANGE1" Karasiow's men went on to reduce the deficit to 9-11, but Renegades responded with a five-round winning streak to lock down the map.

On Renegades' map pick, Mirage, HellRaisers opened up the game by securing their Terrorist pistol and the subsequent anti-ecos. Justin "jks" Savage and co. responded with three rounds of their own to restore parity at 3-3, but ANGE1 and his team would instantly counter them with nothing but CZs.
HellRaisers shut down Renegades for four straight rounds, though the Australians then tightened up their defence to get back on the board with two successful rounds. However, Vladyslav "bondik" Nechyporchuk inspired his team to secure a 10-5 half-time lead after denying jks from clutching a 1v3 in the 13th round.
A triple and a double-kill from Bence "DeadFox" Böröcz and ANGE1, respectively, earned HellRaisers the next pistol round, with the Europeans keeping their defence very tight to hit map point without much effort. Renegades still won the next three rounds, but it was simply not enough to stop HellRaisers from taking the series to a third map.

The decider, Train, kicked off with HellRaisers winning their CT pistol fairly easily and the following anti-eco. Renegades tried to respond in a third-round buy, but without success, leaving them strapped for cash.
Renegades got their first round on the board thanks to a 1v2 clutch from Nifty, but more misery was about to come for them. HellRaisers dominated the rest of the first half, and, after winning the second pistol, quickly put the match to bed.

Meanwhile, Natus Vincere took on VG.Flash, with the series beginning on Mirage, the Chinese team's map pick. WingHei "Freeman" Cheung's squad won their T-side pistol and followed that up with the anti-ecos, but their opponents replied with a four-round streak to take the lead.
VG.Flash did not let that get to them, though, and won three rounds in a row to bag a 6-4 lead. Natus Vincere picked up the pace, however, and dropped just one more round before the break to take a narrow 8-7 lead.
Despite their opponents' efforts, Natus Vincere had a near-flawless performance in the second half, conceding only one round to run out 16-8 winners.

Next up was Train, Natus Vincere map pick, but VG.Flash were the ones who got off on the right foot, winning their T-side pistol with a triple-kill from KunHua "LOVEYY" Bai in a 2v3 post-plant situation.
Natus Vincere immediately countered the offence, however, and, constantly shut down their opponents, taking an 11-4 lead into the break after preventing the Chinese side from stringing rounds together. After winning their second pistol of the game, VG.Flash managed to reduce the deficit to 7-11.
That was when Natus Vincere had their economy back on track, with the Ukrainian side easily bagging three rounds in a row to hit 14 rounds. VG.Flash still attempted a response, but there was nothing they could do to prevent Na`Vi from running away with the game.
