BnTeT: "I think that from now on we are going to expect more from ourselves"

Following TYLOO's elimination from the tournament, we spoke to the team's main star and IGL, Hansel "⁠BnTeT⁠" Ferdinand.

The Chinese team had a blazing start to StarSeries i-League Season 5, beating Natus Vincere 2-0 to secure their first win. After that, TYLOO dropped to two strong teams, Ninjas in Pyjamas and MOUZ, before finally being eliminated by GODSENT in a three-map series.

In our exit interview with BnTeT, we asked the Indonesian about the decision to pick up Yue "⁠AE⁠" Yu, adapting to having two AWPers and how he feels facing tier 1 teams.

You were forced to find a stand-in, someone to play instead of Mo, so you picked AE. Can you tell me why you decided to pick him exactly?

Firstly we picked bottle, but bottle had a contract situation with his team which didn't allow him to play in TyLoo. We knew that AE did not have a team, and it's hard to find a good player in China who doesn't have a team at this moment. Our manager, Kindy, said that he was free, so we picked him.

He is also a main AWPer, like xcurrate, was it hard to balance the two players and what they need?

Yeah, it's really hard. I think after the match versus Na`Vi we thought we had good chemistry, but after that I realized it's really hard to play on specific maps because AE's main weapon is the AWP and it's hard to combine that with our tactics on the T side, also on the CT side. We just didn't have enough time to practice with AE.

You mentioned that some maps suit you more, some suit you less. It seemed that Inferno, even before when you played with Mo, you played very well on. Why do you think that is, why does it suit you so much more than lets say Train or some other maps?

I think Mirage suits us the most at the moment, but on Inferno I feel like our A bombsite is very weak. I don't know why, what happened, I think DD, AE and xccurate didn't play well together, didn't have a good setup. We had banana control almost every time but the A bomb site looked very easy [for the opponents to take], we are going to work on that.

Is the lack of Mo on that site maybe what was missing in this tournament?

Yeah, I think so, because Mo already played with me for almost a year and with them almost two years. So I guess we lacked Mo. I hope he recovers really fast and returns to the team.

You played against Na`Vi in the first game, you beat them, and they obviously have s1mple who is probably the best player in the world right now. You played a lot of these tournaments already, does playing against a player like that faze you at all now? Is it just like another game?

I think that from now on we are going to expect more from ourselves, we can win against good teams, it didn't happen only once. We are going to work on that more, to become more stable, try to improve our communication as well so we always have a good form. Because right now, TyLoo is sometimes good, sometimes really bad, we lack something like that.

So you don't get impressed when playing against a player like s1mple, f0rest or others like that, you don't see them as players that are above your level?

I feel like they are stars and we all know that. I just don't let it get in my mind that they are higher tier players because it would make us less confident. We think that they are good players, good teams, better than us, but let's just be confident.

How do you rate this tournament overall, obviously you came in with a stand-in, didn't have a lot of time to prepare, so what do you make of this tournament?

I think we need to learn from our mistakes. Our next tournament is CAC in China, I think we are going to learn from this, practice, watch our demo and have a good chemistry with AE, I hope.
