NiP replace draken with Lekr0

Ninjas in Pyjamas have announced the addition of Jonas "⁠Lekr0⁠" Olofsson, who has replaced William "⁠draken⁠" Sundin in the active roster.

The decision comes as a result of differences "both personal and in-game" between the AWPer and the team, who jumped at the possibility of acquiring Lekr0 after he had been replaced by Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström in fnatic.

In a statement, the team's coach, Faruk "⁠pita⁠" Pita, explained that Ninjas in Pyjamas have been unable to "find the right mix" with draken regarding the roles within the squad.

Lekr0 joins NiP

The surprising move comes just a little over a week before the team will travel to Shanghai, China, for the CS:GO Asia Championships, where they'll face the likes of Natus Vincere, HEROIC, and Virtus.pro.

Afterward, Ninjas in Pyjamas will have until the end of the month to prepare for the Europe Minor Closed Qualifier — to which they have supposedly been invited —, a stage they have been unable to pass for the last two Major cycles.

"William is a young player with an incredible talent. Counter-Strike is not all about talent however, as the game is heavily based on all players taking on their individual roles in the team, both inside and outside of the game."

"We could unfortunately not find the right mix with William at the moment which has led us to the decision of benching him for the time being. We are hoping to see him back in competitive play in the future. In his place, we are extremely happy to have found an equally talented replacement in Lekr0."

soo does forest..... the main problem in here is that the awper will be forest .... and hes good with the awp but hes not great with it like the "real" main awpers... soo NiP will strugle when they realy need to have an awp to make certain plays agains certain team... or if they chose not to use an awp that often they will have to change their playstyle a lot expecialy with a new player in the team and that will take some time to learn... but i hope they do good in the future... and rip draken for now...

I think it was really just a role thing in the end. Maybe a bit of personality conflict but not 2015 s1mple kind of toxic. I thought Rez and Draken would stick together as a duo for a while. Draken will find a team soon enough.

maybe dennis will awp and lekro will replace his entry fragging role. this move makes a lot of sense because firstly dennis is a stable awper unlike draken and lekro is really good entry fragger and secondly dennis wasnt able to focus that much on his game while being the igl and his stats towards the end were really bad and now hopefully with awp he will be able to focus on fragging and igl at the same time

If i remember correctly he has a good defensive awp on CT side but has essentially no aggro skills with it either for aggro CT play or T-side picks, which is usually why you want a primary awper. I could be wrong though.

Because gtr is playing his support role better than draken as awper. Even I hate to see draken go, but only the team will know what is actually going on inside the game. We've all seen how agro he gets everytime and mostly end up in 4v5 situations. Let's hope he finds a team with same agro style as him, so he can fit well.

I think get right is doing very good as a support player. He hardly get any flashy plays. He helps others with flashes and plays in the left over part of the map. I think that REZ is a good player but NiP is using him wrong. Also he's doing better and better in my opinion. However, regarding GTR - I feel so bad for him but his performance really dropped off for a long while now. Everything can be fixed with Lekr0 just because they tried to play around draken but never managed to sync up with him. This is why his performance was almost always out of the context somehow, at least this is how it felt when watching the game.

This is GeT_RiGhT stat graph since he started to play : gyazo.com/eebcb3dc11fd1f11cc11908e78be85.. Green is 2012 to 2014, the NiP era, where they were the best facing poor or weak competition and still struggled to win a Major, the only one of their career. Blue is 2015 to 2017, it's GeT_RiGhT staying consistent and a GOAT potential, despite winning a lot less he stayed good and never was "bad" per say. Red is the period where GeT_RiGhT wasn't good anymore, struggling in his role and his team plunging to very low rankings. Yellow is the second half of 2017 where he played like he did before 2017. > Right now he is the lowest rated player on NiP, his role got fucked up by the meta and unlike others he couldn't adapt, right now he is still struglling and did not play to his level since one year. A change in role is obsiously needed don't you think ?

As much as I love GTR, he has to go, it has come to the point him being a completely washed up player, and apart from the "brand" he doesn't add ANYTHING to the team. He has 1 or 2 good games per 10 or more, maybe even less nowadays. Yet they choose to replace their AWPer, so that will probably force f0rest to be the sniper again and that's a big hit for a beast of a rifler like him, or dennis going the nitr0 route (IGL/AWP), which will also hamper his performance big time. Seriously, this team is becoming a joke... I feel bad for f0rest, he is still insane after all these years and he deserves to be on a better team. REZ or Lekr0 both could replace him in his role and do much better with room to grow. GTR used to be the heart of the team, hyping them up and screaming after every big play etc. but nowadays I don't see him do that much either...

I don't understand. Apparently Xizt will take the IGL roles. From now on I don't see a reason why Golden is kept in the roster. I'd argue that he shouldn't have been kicked before because the IGL role was quite important and he was the one that took it, but from the point he's no longer the IGL of the team, Lekr0 is a much better option.

back when he was primary awping he was actually pretty decent. remember its lekr0 theyre bringing in, it will be a good compensation for their loss of f0rests rifling skills. liquid can pull off not having a primary awper as they compensate for this loss with such talented players - i dont see how nips situation is any different in this particular area of discussion.

Is it a real surprise? Heaton created NIP with gtr and f0rest as the core. They won't replace him as vp won't replace biceps. I'm sure they know gtr been way off his prime as much as you do but no NIP without gtr. Quite sad though that draken is replaced but it's expected. Awpers should be the game changer by their important kills but watch NIP recent matches. He changed the game by missing 90% shots that even us can hit.

If you want to be super aggressive and try things teams wont expect like Draken does, you have to do the basic things perfect. He misses way too many easy shots. The no scopes and flashy plays are good but the easy shots end up costing them maps. I think JW going through a similar phase right now. I wouldnt of dropped him, personally I think GTR is a bigger issue and helping Dennis to find a way he can IGL but still not affect his game as much.

Bad move to replace Draken and not Rez. NIP needed the explosiveness that Draken could bring, not just some mediocore player in Rez. Good move to bring in Lekro, but I dont see this lineup being anything but tier 2. With draken, they might be able to find the synergy, and now they have no agressive player other that G_R.
