olofmeister to miss ECS Finals

FaZe star Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer will not take part in the upcoming ECS Season 5 Finals, the Swedish player has confirmed.

In a statement released by FaZe, the 26-year-old admitted that he is not yet ready to play again and revealed that he will "take a much longer break and come back when I am 110%".

olofmeister gave no time frame for a return, but his availability for ESL One Belo Horizonte, kicking off in just a week's time, now looks to be very much in doubt.

olofmeister not ready to return to action just yet

The former fnatic member had only recently returned to action after spending almost two months on the sidelines, during which FaZe fielded Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström as a stand-in.

"I thought I was ready to come back, but I was not," olofmeister wrote.

"I really wanted to make it work but stressed my comeback in doing so. It is all my own fault and I should have listened to myself.

"My biggest sorry goes out to my team, whom I know I have put in an unfortunate situation. I also want to say sorry to my fans."

FaZe have not yet announced who their fifth player for the British event will be, but Flickshot.fr's Guillaume "neL" Canelo recently tweeted that the IEM Sydney champions were eyeing Jorgen "⁠cromen⁠" Robertsen, who has been acting as a stand-in for HEROIC.

Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's men have been drawn in Group B for the ECS Finals along with NRG, G2 and Luminosity, with their first match pitting them against the Brazilian side.

I think at some point soon, if he does not pull back, FaZe will -Olof. I know they are very kind to him atm and really supports all of this, but a time will come where it's not economically sustainable. FaZe might be a very rich org, but you know what they say; Money makes people greedy, and I doubt the top of FaZe will continue to just pay and pay without results. It's the sad truth about the world we live in. I hope not tho. Big fan of Olof!

Really sad about this news. At the same, a bit angry on why he announced coming back and then returns back to inactive almost immediately. Make no sense. FaZe again is in limbo for unknown amount of time. As much as I love Olof and truly want him to be a part FaZe's active roster, maybe it is time for FaZe Clan to find a permanent replacement for Olof. A professional team cannot be using stand-in or substitution for like half a year.

+1 If he was gonna miss ECS only, I'm fine with it. However, based on his wording "much longer break", it looks like he is gonna miss ESL Belo, Cologne, Stockholm and NY as well. In the future I could see faze drop or bench Olof because of this. As much as I don’t want this to happen it is definitely a possibility. On the bright side I could see him returning to the Swedish scene and play for Fnatic (replacing golden) or maybe replacing getright on NiP. I could definitely see him going back to Fnatic because of the roster change they recently made.

we don't know the cause of his absence yet. if it's an injury that is popping back up occasionally (thinking about his previous arm injury) then it's possible they'd want to replace him. but there's also talk of a family tragedy, possibly his father being sick, and that would not be a cause to drop him. he'll be back once he's back, the org and his team mates have been very patient and professional so far, nothing points to a change of that attitude. once he's back, he's back, simple as that.
