Astralis pull off Inferno comeback against Cloud9 at ECS Finals

Astralis have beaten Cloud9 16-13 on Inferno in their first game at the ECS Season 5 Finals.

The best-of-one Group A opening match between Astralis and Cloud9 at the ECS Season 5 Finals took place on Inferno. The T-sided Danish team planted the bomb in a 3vs3 in the pistol round but Cloud9 were able to retake to grab the first round.

Following two more round losses, Astralis picked up the fourth round of the game to trail 3-1. The North Americans responded with three of their own, extending their lead to 6-1. Tarik "⁠tarik⁠" Celik clutched a 1vs1 against Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif when the score was 7-3 to give Cloud9 their eighth round on the CT-side.

dupreeh & co. came back from 12-3

In the last two rounds of the second half Cloud9 stopped two B-site pushes and won the half 12-3. The North Americans rushed the A-site in the second half pistol round but couldn't get a single kill as Astralis made it 12-4. Magisk quad kill with a FAMAS in the first gun round made it 12-7.

Astralis tied the game at 12-12 thanks to Magisk's triple kill. The Danish squad completed the comeback with a 13-1 CT-side campaign, winning the map 16-13.

tarik is so good at calling strats, 1-13 on the T side, I can think of just 1 worse performance on the T side: VeryGames lost 0-14 to NiP on the offense on de_nuke play.esea.net/match/3157522 but it was online and nuke is calassically heavily CT-sided, as opposed to inferno. But yeah, blame everything on FNS, those guys bought a dedicated IGL but the players didn't let him call like he wanted, they tried to make him call like tarik did in the past. Sad story, FNS wasted his time with those guys.

The difference between gambit and c9 were that c9 was already a top 4 team coming into the major, that's what everybody forgot. They placed at least top 4 at like every event, and the one event they didn't place top 4 they got eliminated by FaZe. Gambit was a different story. They lost so much in scrims that they didn't give a shit anymore and ended up winning the major. and nobody knew if gambit's win was ever a fluke because zeus left right after. hell, maybe gambit would be a top 4 team rn if zeus stayed

Major is like any other fukin tournament, just more teams, not necessarily the best, it is possible to get lucky draws or win just becuz a team has its peak within the days of major = imt, gambit, c9, qbf

Yeah C9 definitely got lucky draws in the major by having to beat Astralis in the group stage, then G2 in the quarter-final , SK in the semis and FaZe in the finals. It's not like those were all the main top teams they had beaten in the major. Lucky draws OMEGALUL

dude tarik is a good igl, right now its literally the same c9 system except with fns instead of stewie so obvious they gonna be worse. With a player that is consistent, they will work even better than stewie2k.

Don’t put that much blame on tarik, they played against astralis and their current form is amazing. Also even if you call good strats as an igl, you might still lose if your star players dont show up. Besides, i don’t think it was tarik who didn’t like how fns was calling when fns came to the c9.
