FaZe overrun Ghost in Belo Horizonte

FaZe are off to a great start at ESL One Belo Horizonte following a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Ghost in their opening match.

The first match of the secondary stream, featuring current No.3 team in the world, FaZe, quickly turned into a massacre. Starting out on the CT side of Overpass, the European team strolled to an 8-0 lead after giving Ghost very little room to operate during the early stages of the game.

Ghost then finally managed to get something going, but their round wins were immediately traded back by FaZe, who would go on to close out the half with a commanding 12-3 lead.

The North American side found a lifeline in the second half with the pistol win, but FaZe hit back instantly on a force-buy. With their economy in shambles, Ghost were helpless to keep their opponents from running away with the game.

Ghost came into Dust2 looking a different side and won five rounds right off the bat on the CT side. FaZe then got on the board following two quick entry kills from Jorgen "⁠cromen⁠" Robertsen on A, with that round sparking a great run from the Europeans, who would cut the gap to 5-4 on the back of a 1v2 clutch from Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač.

Joshua "⁠steel⁠" Nissan immediately called a timeout in a bid to halt FaZe's momentum, but with no success as Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's side remained in the driving seat. The scoreline bloomed to an 8-6 lead in FaZe's favour before Kenneth "⁠koosta⁠" Suen brought the deficit to a minimum with a quad-kill.

The second half began with Ghost getting shut down as they attempted to enter the B site, with Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács tapping down three opponents in quick succession. The North Americans only managed to break through the FaZe defence seven rounds into the half, courtesy of a quad-kill from Yassine "⁠Subroza⁠" Taoufik, but there was no follow-up as the European side hit back immediately to seal a convincing 2-0 success.
