mikeS retires from competitive play; open to coaching

The Dutch player most known for his time in PENTA, Mike "⁠mikeS⁠" Tuns, announced that he would be taking a step back from competing in CS:GO.

mikeS' first recorded matches in CS:GO date back to 2013, when he played for LowLandLions alongside current MOUZ player Chris "⁠chrisJ⁠" de Jong. The now 26-year-old mikeS attended tournaments such as Copenhagen Games in 2014 and The World Championships in 2015, but made the biggest mark in 2016, representing PENTA.

With the German organization, mikeS managed to place 3-4th at the PGL Minor, second at the ESEA Premier S21 Finals and win the ESL Meisterschaft Summer.

The Dutchman left PENTA at the end of 2016, amidst a turbulent period for the organization which saw them go down to just one player - Kevin "⁠kRYSTAL⁠" Amend. Since then, mikeS played for different organization, but couldn't find a stable home. He was most recently seen playing with the Epsilon/fish123 formation with whom he was successful in qualifying for the Europe Minor Closed Qualifier.

Despite that result, mikeS announced that he doesn't have the desire to be a professional player anymore, turning his sight towards a coaching or analyst position:

"I decided to "retire" today as a competitive CS player. I’ve been walking around with this feeling for a while now where I didn’t feel motivated/passionate to play. This made me feel CS was more of a grind than me actually having fun while playing.

"I don’t intend on quitting CS though cause I just love it so much like many others do. I want to keep going on as a coach/analyst, so if any teams are interested in me you can send me a DM or contact me on [email protected] I think with my experience I can offer teams quite a bit!"
