Ksharp to be inducted into the Esports Hall of Fame

Kyle "Ksharp" Miller is set to become the third Esports Hall of Fame inductee during ESL One Cologne thanks his accolades and contributions to esports.

The American player will, therefore, be joining Emil "HeatoN" Christensen, who was the first player to be added to the Esports Hall of Fame presented by paysafecard, and Quake player Dennis "Thresh" Fong.

Ksharp will be the first North American CS player to join the Hall of Fame

Ksharp was an active player between 2000 and 2008, during which time he represented Team 3D and won three Major titles: CPL Winter 2002, WCG 2004 and WCG 2005. Interestingly, his three world championships titles came from three different Counter-Strike games: 1.6, Condition Zero, and Source.

In ESL's announcement, Ksharp was described as the "first global superstar to spring from the American CS scene" and a player that would "routinely be referenced in discussions about the best individual players in the world" during his eight-year-long career, which sees him added to the Esports Hall of Fame.

Jonas "bsl" Alsaker Vikan, ESL's Tournament Director, also pointed out that Ksharp was not only respected for his aforementioned achievements and in-game skills, but his personal qualities as well:

"By his peers "Ksharp" was revered both for his human and in-game qualities. Mr. Miller is described as a polite soul, ahead of his time in the early display of Desire, Discipline, Dedication, traits that today are hallmarks of the consummate professional gamer."

Ksharp's induction to the Esports Hall of Fame will happen before the grand final of ESL One Cologne, on Sunday, July 8th.

Are you trolling or retarded? CPL was the biggest event you could win in 1.6. And winning in 2002 with SK on the rise was a big big win back then. WCG was the Olympics of competitive gaming held in China every year. Winning those tournaments were huge. Stop talking like you know what you're talking about. and SK built their legacy on winning 2 CPLs in a row. As did fnatic. Dumbass.

He absolutely is. He was the best awper in the world for a long time, practically built the Brazil scene with k1koo and pred together and spawned a whole new generation of Brazilian players after him. Especially moreso after they won ESWC 2006 which was a huge deal because they were in Brazil and couldn't get good practice in against top tier teams. Why do you think mibr are back and why do you think moses was talking to Fallen about cogu? cogu was an absolute GOD in 1.6. Probably my favorite player in all of CS history. The dude STILL has fans. If Fallen is the godfather of Brazil now, cogu was it before him. cogu's impact cannot be understated. He had a whole country and region on his back.

the fuck are you talking about? He played longer than most pros back then. He still plays even now. You forget that this site didn't become important until GotFrag got bought by MLG. Gotfrag was the main CS site for years until MLG took over. Midway ran Gotfrag and he sold the site for $1 million and they killed it.

Either way, saying he didn't play long enough is asinine. He was a pro on the scene longer than a majority of the scene that for many died out, got washed up, or quit. cogu absolutely belongs in the conversation with fRoD..he was better than fRoD and fRoD would tell you himself (actually he would argue that). He and fRoD are good friends actually. and fRoD will tell you he belongs with the greats like forest and NEO. He was named Top 10 1.6 players ever. And he was.

Your research is wrong. He won 2 tournaments in 2007. liquipedia.net/counterstrike/Cogu Regardless, he played a very long time. Your statement is still very wrong. He had a much longer career than a majority of 1.6 players at that level. Just look at that page again. He was considered the best player in the whole Western Hemisphere of the 2000s, 2nd best awper, and of course the best Brazilian. I actually remember when HLTV wrote that article.

Nah, it won’t be. Dominant players from that era, contains some SK players again (2003-2005) we have VicoN, elemeNt, SpawN, bds, XeqtR etc.. also danish players as zonic, Lancelot (awp god from iddqd) , torM (dynamic crew), CrashJack(SoA) is worth mentioning, alongside KK and MuGGz, they shaped the Danish CS scene, and is a hall of fame spot worthy :)

At the early stage of CS, he was one of the best in the world. I believe he had like 3-4 2nd places in a row at the biggest tournaments, placed ahead of SK/NiP/ players. But i do agree, he is not ahead of heaton, potti & elemeNt.

KK and muGGz were nobodies regardless of their roles. zonic yes, elemeNt yes, Spawn yes, bds maybe, XeqtR absolutely. But I'd put bsl, REAL, Juve9ile, moto, DarK, knoxville, shaGuar, method, tr1p, Corey Hanes, moses, musamban1, fnx and a littany of other guys in the HOF before any of those other clowns.

Wouldn't exactly call them clowns, as I said, they shaped the danish CS scene, and it's been quite a dominant factor in the game, throughout the years. Also im not saying, they're first in line. Might be 20-30 other players ahead of them. Also I forgot about Robkill, german machine!

The Danes weren't that special in 1.6 for a very long time. They competed but you never saw them win anything. The Swedes and Nordics were way better than the Danes. The Danes were on the level of Finland back then. So no, they weren't dominant. 1.6 was about the Sweden, Norway, NA, with some Danish, Finnish, teams mixed in along with the Brazilians. The Koreans and Chinese poked their head in for a while too. The Danes weren't really great until CSGO.

mTw with the danish roster, won pretty much everything "big" from 2008-2010, before that they, played as NoA and won 2-3 big champs, biggest was ESWC 2007

No the fuck they didn't. fnatic won everything in 2009 and Na'Vi won everything in 2010. mTw was a big factor back then but they rarely beat fnatic and Na'Vi. And that NoA team that was good was the one that was a mix of Nordics and NA players that won CPL in Winter of 2004. The Danish team you're talking about came in 2nd in ESWC 2007. That Danish team won exactly 3 events that were not at the level of a CPL or ESWC. shgOPEN and Clanbase were not big tournaments. Again, they were not "dominant" from 2008-2010.

While he does deserve this, the next person from NA I better see in there is fRoD. He is the most decorated player in NA history and dominated NA CS for years. Then we should see shaGuar, Rambo, moto, Method, tr1p, StorM, and sunman.

Did I mention Warden? and you want tr1p there because he was the best IGL in NA, StorM was one of the best riflers, and sunman was a star in his own right before coL and then switched to being an extremely important support guy that coL couldn't win without...and they did try. But those are the first guys you want. Guys like Corey Hanes, moses, Dominator, and aZn could be added later.

There was no such thing as "rating" in 1.6. The stat traditionally used back then to assess a players skill/performance was FPR (frags per round). God players such as fRoD, he typically had an FPR consistently around 0.850 on lan, which is roughly equivalent to 85 ADR. It was rare to see him put up below 80 ADR on lan which was pretty insane.

Im pretty sure hltv had the exact same rating in 1.6 as in go, obviously not the rating 2.0 though. Still either way, I can't understand why the would abolish the only historical database

Gotfrag.com was the site used for following the pro scene back then. I'm sure there must be some way to find their old pro statistics they had. Hltv at that time was more for renting an HLTV bot to record demos and so people could spectate.

Read the post again. walle was better because as the game progressed, he stayed good. Ksharp was only great in 1.5 and earlier because he abused the awp quickswitch glitch. Once they took that away, he was useless.

What kind of revisionist bullshit is that? walle was considered a legend WHILE he was still playing. he was considered a top 5 awper in the world for a majority of time he played. Shit, read his liquidpedia. liquipedia.net/counterstrike/Walle A lot of this stuff I forgot but it only makes my argument even stronger. And his more important accomplishments came when he was on EYE and NiP. By 2008 he was definitely in washed up territory but he held is own. But between 2003 and 2007 he was great.

None of what he did was done vs exceptional teams or players with any regularity. When SK did take down an event it wasn't because of Walle it was in spite of him. Garbo CT side AWP'er, his aggro peeks left SK in 4 v 5's on T side a lot and they had to play from behind to save the round, being so flighty and errant means SK had to play on an info disadvantage in most late round spots because of walle's poor positioning in mid round and after aborted execs. If the guy was from the US everyone would call him a braindead pugger, because that's what he is. But since he's a Swede he's an aggro AWP legend or whatever.

Because that's the stuff that actually matters. NiP being on the other side of the bracket from fnatic and the G5 all the time means they cruised to semis with little effort anyway. They didn't need walle to do that at all with how ludicrously top heavy CS was from 2004-2006.

Top heavy? 2004-2006 was when CS was at its best. It had good teams competing from everywhere. SK, NoA, coL, 3D, mibr, Lunatic Hai, wNv, Begrip, 4k, DSky, u5, JMC, ex6tence, Catch Gamer, mouz, NiP, fnatic, AA, Pentagram, g3x, roccat, etc etc etc. Your revisionist history blows my mind my guy.

SK, NoA, fnatic and PGS were the only teams you mentioned outside of NiP that were gonna win more than two T2+ events a year buddi So whenever they got collected by a big money invite event they all pooled into semis because the gap from the top 5-6 teams to the top 6-12 teams was a friggin canyon. So many of the teams outside of the top 5 during this period either were one and dones or didn't have a roster that lasted for more than like 8 months. It ain't parity if it ain't consistent.

What universe do you live in? If you go on Liquidpedia and count all the different winners of big international events between 2004 and 2007, you'll find 12 different teams winning the major events (CPL, ESWC, WCG, GameGune, Kode5). I didn't even count dreamhacks or WCGs or WSVGs where Source was played. Again, wtf are you talking about? The most events won by the same team were 2 by Pentagram, NiP, SK, and coL. I dunno what orifice of yours that you're pulling this from

frod was new when ksharp was the most dominant awper in the world. Even more than walle. Actually much more than walle. Like not even close to Kyle. And you must be acting older than you are because they didnt fix the quickscope until after Kyle went to CGS/Source.

Just as old. CGS didnt get picked up in 2004. It was like 07 or 08. And thats when Kyle and a lot of the other NA pros became bad. Source came out in 2004. And 1.6 was released on steam in 2003 And there was no big quickscope fix. People had quickscope scripts that valve put a stop to in 1.6. It wasnt some bug.

You have it so wrong its not even funny. The quickswitch "glitch" wasn't a glitch per say but 1.6 added extra time of delay before you could get a bullet off with the awp. So Ksharp couldn't do his technique with the deagle where he could quickswitch from deagle to awp and get a bullet off immediately before the awp fully drew. Anyone could do it and you didn't need a script for it. I did it often. When 1.6 came out, people were flipping out over it and hated 1.6 because of the new delay they added to the awp to not allow that technique. I vividly remember people flipping on Gotfrag about the "awp delay". Eventually people stopped caring an were fine with it. But KSharp immediately declined. The pros didn't didn't get bad in 2004 at all. There was just a period of uncertainty over which game people were going to play. CPL Summer 2004 or 2005, they had to add an extra 1.6 tournament because Source was so shit, that no one wanted to play it. SK beat EG (the Canadian one with ShaG on it) to win that CPL but it was tained because of the equal running Source tournament. After that, everyone stuck to 1.6 until CGS came. KSharp played in CGS for star power cuz he had a name but he was very washed up by then. After CGS died, everyone just quit. They didn't get bad. Your facts are off my friend. For further refresher, go on PGLs Youtube and see the vid where moses does the NA region profile about what happened to the scene. You're remembering it wrong

I dont even know where to start. Nor do I care to. I stated facts. You stated opinions you watched from a youtube channel. There is no such thing as a quickswitch glitch. Yes they added a longer awp delay. And it had zero effect on Kyle. He was still dominant once 1.6 came out. Youre talking to a old gotfrag admin. And if you were on the forums you would remember this name. I have never changed it. I didnt join HLTV until gotfrag got bought by MLG. No where did I say the pros got bad in 04. The USA scene died after CGS. Hence my previous statement. Moving on.

I dunno how you were an admin with such poor reading skills. Well, those forums were trash so ot actually makes sense. Read what I wrote again. And if you think Ksharp was doninant in 1.6, you need your head checked. He was good but far from the normal dominant Ksharp in 1.5. Hence why the only thing he won after 1.6 released was a Source and CZ tournament.

And thats when Kyle and a lot of the other NA pros became bad. Nowhere did I say they got bad in 04.... You also said 1.6 and Source came out in the same year. Not going to argue over your opinion of him. Especially when you have to look up youtube videos to remember what happened back then. YOU need to reread what I wrote. I directly replied to your actual statements. You replied to strawmen. Youre not doing yourself any favors.

Well first off, your initial reply was written poorly so excuse my misinterpretation of when you said pros got bad. But even then, they didn't get bad. Which is what I already said and what you glossed over. So , they didn't get bad. They just quit. So either way, you're still wrong. 2nd of all, Kyle wasn't shit by CGS' end but he was nowhere near dominant. Which is what I keep saying. He started declining right when the awp delay was introduced. I've said that multiple times. I don't need to watch youtube when I watched the matches live on HLTV. And yes you are correct, 1.6 did release in 03 and Source in 04. I remembered that wrong. At least you got one right.

You're remembering it wrong" And had trouble comprehending this statement: "It was like 07 or 08. And thats when Kyle and a lot of the other NA pros became bad. " Move on. You lost.

It didn't because it was the same thing as 1.6 but re-skinned and wasn't that much nicer to look at. but WCG used it so he won that tourney for it. And no, cogu, fRoD, elemeNt, NEO, or forest should be next if they stick to CS players.

CZ actually looked pretty cool. If cspromod actually did come out way back I wish it would have been like CZ. Graphics looked slightly better in CZ then 1.6 but without that awful CS Source feel, shooting also felt really good. I'm pretty surprised CZ didn't get more hype back then... just nobody ever really seemed to play it aside from 1.6 players that wanted to meme and play a slightly diff game in a league for fun on the side.

A lot of people didn't like the new character models. And the game didn't really feel different. Plus the sounds were trashtastic. The silenced m4 sounded so puny and ugly. A lot of people were like "why the fuck would I play this? its exactly 1.6 with shittier models and sounds"). I actually hated when CZ came out because for some reason the character models from CZ got put into 1.6 and you had to download a patch or something to get the old 1.6 models back because we liked them better. CZ was very unnecessary. And don't remind me about Promod. Alex Garfield is the devil.

Yep.. those cunts took all that money in donations only to shut down the project. I wonder if thats part of the reason why garfield doesnt want bring EG back into CS again. (Not wanting to get called out for it). Probably why he just keeps his org well away from counterstrike.

Garfield isn't a part of EG anymore. EG is player owned. And there were few donations given to the Promod team. If GoFundMe and Paypal were bigger back then, the scene probably would have funded the finish of Promod. The problem was he didn't pay the developers and because the developers needed money to live, they kept focus on their actual paying jobs so the game never got done. But even fRoD will tell you how much of a piece of shit Garfield was as an owner. Fuck him.

Seriously though, why are they so slow at inducting players into the hall of fame? CS will be dead before the next one is released lol. Anyways, deserved for ksharp, but elemeNt or XeqtR NEEDS to be inducted very soon. Both are retired for a long time, and both were superstars and extremely decorated. Tbh i had expected elemeNt before ksharp but yeah. Especially with bsl being the head of ESL it's weird he didn't choose a norwegian xD

A real american CS player. He would be disappointed that NA is using europeans to carry itself to deep runs. NA nowadays don't care about hard work. They just sign a eu player and start winning. Back then, NA took chances on its talent. If it didn't pay off, it sucked. If it did, it was great. Denmark does this with its talent. So does Sweden. So does Brazil. Not NA though. The trash can of the world

Look there ofc many that should join HOF ... But, remember u haft to be done to be able to be named into HOF. So Neo, f0rest, Flusha, Markeloff,Happy, Get_right, Fallen, Coldzera will ofc haft to wait.. But to me the next CS player that should be named should be.. dsn.. Damn he was so fucking amazing.. I would say, dsn, zonic, spawn, Potti.. I also would love to see CYX, ofc not as much wins like the others but. just as talented, and i think that would be a such a nice tribute to an amazing player.. And btw. when f0rest, Markeloff and Neo stops playing they should be inducted RIGHT away.. becasue those 3 players are to me the biggest legends of CS 1.5-1.6 And ofc, Flusha , Coldzera should be as well, becasue to me those two are the best CSGO players of all time.. However, their might be a S1mple in that discussion when the end of CSGO is near.. if he continues like this and actually win a major or two..

I hope he does since he def deserve it I mean, even though HeatoN and Ksharp are obvious inductees for the hof, it twould be pretty weird imo to induct those two in that order and not pick Potti next who played at the same time as them and was considered the best player in the world while all three of them played.
