STYKO to fill in for Cloud9 at ESL One Cologne

MOUZ backup member Martin "⁠STYKO⁠" Styk will be Cloud9's fifth player at ESL One Cologne, the player and the North American organisation have confirmed on Social Media.

The Slovakian player wrote in an Instagram story that he will play for Cloud9 as a stand-in at the event, with the North American organisation then posting on Twitter that the player has joined the team on loan from MOUZ.

He will fill in for Pujan "⁠FNS⁠" Mehta, who has been living on borrowed time in Cloud9 since the North American organisation decided to place him on the transfer list.

STYKO will be Cloud9's fifth player in Cologne

STYKO has been assessing his options since being replaced by Janusz "⁠Snax⁠" Pogorzelski in MOUZ' starting line-up, earlier this week. A member of the German organisation since August 2017, he helped the team to win StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4 and the V4 Future Sports Festival, which pushed them to second in the world ranking - their highest-ever placement.

ESL One Cologne will run from July 3-8, with $300,000 on the line. Cloud9 have been drawn in Group A, with their first match pitting them against Ninjas in Pyjamas.

The North American team will attend the event with:

What the hell are you talking about ? Styko barely ever had to play "bad" spots. He played B on Mirage, that's it. Maybe mid on Cache. Ropz plays B on Cache, Train, Overpass and Dust2, as well as ramp on Nuke. That guy has to hold the bad positions most of the time. And on T side he never entried but was the one carrying the bomb, while others had the difficult and high pressure job to get entries. He also didn't drop awps or sacrifice weaponry for utility any more than chrisj, ropz or sunny, depending on the map an who has enough money. Styko was mediocre because he couldn't compete with most t1 players when it comes to gamesense and aiming. Not because he was the only one on the team who made economic sacrifices.

He didn't get "picked up" he's on loan for a single event. It's likely C9 won't decide on a permanent fifth until after the major and Ska probably leaves then as well. Regardless the funniest thing about this thread is G2 fans thinking their team with two coaches, a decent AWP, an overrated fading star and some guy who never quite showed up somehow how more potential then C9. I think Tarik, Ska, Rush and Autimatic might have a chance 4v5 vs G2 right now.
