eUnited shock NRG at Americas Minor

NRG have been dumped out of the Americas Minor following a shocking 1-2 defeat to eUnited in the lower bracket final.

The match began on NRG's map pick, Nuke, with eUnited drawing first blood after starting on the Terrorist side. The CTs replied immediately, however, thanks to a triple kill from Vincent "⁠Brehze⁠" Cayonte, and kept a water-tight defence, forcing their opponents to call a tactical pause when they were down 1-8.

eUnited finally broke the CTs' streak in the 12th round, following a quad kill from Kaleb "⁠moose⁠" Jayne, and put together a small run of rounds, with the half ending with an 11-4 scoreline in NRG's favour.

Now playing on the offensive side, NRG further added to their lead after taking the pistol round, but they could not build on that as eUnited responded immediately, thanks to another quad kill from moose. That round swung the tide in favour of the CTs, who kept their defence very tight and eventually brought the deficit to a minimum.

Some of those rounds had been very close, however, so after taking two of the next three rounds, NRG immediately reset eUnited's economy. Skyler "⁠Relyks⁠" Weaver' side still tried to get back into the game, but a 1v2 clutch from Damian "⁠daps⁠" Steele eventually sealed the deal for his team.

Next up was Inferno, which followed the same trend of Nuke as NRG lost the initial pistol round but rallied back right after. daps' side used that momentum to carve out a 4-1 lead, but then their streak came to an end as Will "⁠dazzLe⁠" Loafman pulled off a quad kill in a B execution.

That was the start of a phenomenal run from eUnited, who secured a 7-5 lead before NRG bagged the final three rounds of the half.

moose went huge in the following pistol, picking up four kills in the pit area to restore parity at 8-8. eUnited set up a very strong defence after that and lost just one round before hitting map point. NRG still managed to string two rounds together for the first time in the half, but there simply was no stopping eUnited.

It all came down to Dust2, which began with eUnited taking the pistol round and the subsequent anti-ecos for a 3-0 lead. moose blew everyone away with an ace in a 2v5 situation, with Relyks following it up with a quad kill in a 2v4 situation, leaving NRG's players fuming.

eUnited were brimming with confidence and kept winning all aim duels, while NRG looked uninspired and well below the pace, so it did not come as a surprise that the StarSeries runners-up were limited to just three rounds in the half.

The second half began at a frantic pace as the two teams kept trading rounds, which eventually broke NRG's bank. With their economy in shambles, daps' men were helpless to prevent eUnited from running away with the map.

Following this win, eUnited will progress to the Minor's consolation final, in which they will take on Complexity for a spot in the FACEIT Major's New Challengers Stage.
