WESG releases statement on outstanding prize money

WESG have released a statement about owed prize money to the global finalists after players revealed their missing earnings on social media.

Over the weekend, Denis "seized" Kostin broke his silence on Twitter asking other players if anyone had received their portion of the $1.5M prize pool from the globals finals, which saw fnatic win the grand prize of $800,000 after beating Space Soldiers in the final.

The WESG Committee revealed the issues that they have faced, the first of which regarding "missing or inaccurate information", with a "number of agreements" still "unsigned", and urged teams to be thorough when submitting information.

fnatic won their $800,000 earning over Space Soldiers in the grand final

The WESG Committee then followed with their issues regarding large transactions, with those higher than $40,000 requiring approval by China's tax bureau under Chinese law, and added that international transfers are taking longer than expected as foreign banks have "different processes."

"We have noticed some discussion on social media regarding the payment of prize money. Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to complete the processes required.

"We would appreciate it if everyone can continue to coordinate with our staff members to ensure the transactions go smoothly.

"So far, we have successfully paid out close to half of the winners. WESG will continue to improve on our internal processes this year. It will continue to be our goal in making sure winners get their prize money in a timely manner."

Empty fucking words again, it's China's problem. Not the "International banks" as WESG claims. Other countries have no problem paying out prize money.

Blame the Chinese government when you don't have the money to pay out. Retarded tournament, typical Chinese mentality who tries to be the 'global spotlight' by inviting tier 9999 teams from countries people never heard of and forbid international teams. The viewership number is a joke even domestically, it's throwing money away in the literal sense with little revenues generated, no wonder they are broke. Good to know that this stupid tournament won't be happening next year.

Their blaming somehow makes sense, as China is applying a very strict foreign exchange control policy, but clearly the most important factor is organizor's inefficiency. However, though I have the same feeling that they are throwing money, this stupid event will still happen next year :(
