Liquid move past MIBR at ELEAGUE Premier

Liquid are off to a fantastic start at ELEAGUE Premier after beating MIBR 2-0 in a one-sided series.

Tarik "tarik" Celik did not get the MIBR debut that he wanted as his new team were outplayed by Liquid even with a clearly underperforming Epitacio "TACO" de Melo. The Brazilian/American mixture were on the back foot for most of the series - except for a brief period on Cache -, and will have to rethink their strategy ahead of the elimination match against Cloud9, on Monday.

The Americas showdown kicked off on Inferno, MIBR's map pick, with Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken winning the decisive 1v1 on the A site after Keith "NAF" Markovic had picked up three kills. The Brazilians then took some gambles that did not pay off, with the scoreline blooming to a 5-0 advantage for Liquid.

It was only then that MIBR finally managed to get a footing in the game, winning five of the next six rounds, with Liquid's round during that streak coming on the back of a quad-kill from Twistzz. The Canadian talent was a nuisance to MIBR throughout the half, playing the angles from the pit area to perfection, and in the 12th round he pulled off a quad-kill with a Desert Eagle in a very low buy, punishing the Brazilians for some poor utility usage.

That round left MIBR's players in disarray and set Liquid up for another great run, with the North Americans hitting nine rounds before Jake "Stewie2K" Yip put his side back on the board with a triple kill.

Now playing on the CT side, MIBR took the pistol round in convincing fashion, but then they were caught off-guard by Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, who got four amazing Desert Eagle kills to his name. That was the start of a dominant run from Liquid, who lost just one more round before running away with the map, 16-8.

Twistzz put in a great performance against MIBR

The next map, Cache, started with a chaotic pistol round in which Liquid somehow squandered a 5v2 advantage with the two remaining MIBR players in a choke point. It took the North Americans a while to recover from that blunder as they got on the board for the first time just seven rounds into the game.

Liquid followed that up with another round, but MIBR quickly restored a six-round lead following two entry frags from Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo. There was no follow-up from the Brazilians, however, as a timely flank from EliGE set Liquid up for an easy retake on the A site.

Once again, the North Americans were unable to string more than two rounds together as MIBR hit the A site with two entry frags from Fernando "fer" Alvarenga before Stewie2K picked up two key frags in a 2v2 situation. Liquid's individual talent then made the difference: Twistzz held the A site on his own with a massive triple kill before Nick "nitr0" Cannella got an ace to his name. In the final round, MIBR tried to push the B site but were unable to move past NAF, with the half ending with a competitive 8-7 scoreline.

Liquid came from the break with all guns blazing and won seven rounds right off to bat as they exposed the gaping holes in the MIBR defence. The Brazilian team then finally got a round on the board, but they were immediately traded back, leaving them with no money in the bank to keep the North Americans from taking the map.

No the exact opposite. Liquid carried TACO, a single player. S1mple used to carry NaVi, a team. Electronic is doing a lot better these days.

Well, this guy says "1 BR > 3 BR", suggesting TACO took revenge on mibr with high impact and great kills. Yet, TACO did absolutely nothing. When s1mple carried NaVi in SLS4 and won vs. FaZe, no sane person was saying "Zeus > karrigan" or "Edward > [insert player from FaZe here], because Zeus and Edward played really badly, so they didn't get much credit for the win. Yet TACO, in this guy's mind, gets a lot of credit even though Twistzz carried on Inferno and nitr0 + NAF on Cache.

Jup, he contacted the opposition and not having enough brain cells in his peanut brain to realize that it would be a substantial downgrade. C9 without stew was still revivable, not with the same cohesion like as in the major but with the right player still able to reach top 10/15. And he also left C9 hanging to an inevitable and slow death (if that wasn't already happening when stew left and FNS came rolling in and back out with a huge fucking paycheck). There's no way the major was a fluke, the players on C9 that day were truly better than anyone on that major and deserved to be winners. So why in God's name would these two potentially-world class players join a team that was significantly worse and already crumbling at the time? I'm afraid that no-one will ever know, but i suspect it has something to do with their mentalities and the track record of C9 at that time. It really fucking sucks that C9 is basically doomed now. I really did love the C9 at the time, so lively and full of talent. But now the team is left to rot. And i don't think that Mibr will accomplish any great feats either, they will just be another team with wasted potential because all of the clashing firepower on the team. The only IGLs capable of keeping such teams together are karrigan and gla1ve. And FalleN ain't one of them. #MadeinSomalia

Then again, i do think that kicking boltz was indeed the right idea (SK overall just wasn't a great team for him, mainly because of his personality and later his inability to switch from Portuguese to English). But still, if this team keeps getting under-average results i'm afraid i haven't got any high hopes for them. #MadeinSomalia

Stop these excuses.MIBR were leading 8-4 on 2nd map and lost 9-16,this is unacceptable. Coldzera not even getting 0.90 kd in 2 maps for a such long time. And they couldn't won despite TACO wasn't playing at all. I Know right it's just a one game, but well they knew which team they are facing to,they had a lot of time to prepare for this match. But this is also not even a first tournament for Stewie in this roster, and look how bad still he is. And,if i'm no scener SO WHAT,what's the point?Doesn't this allows me to say my opinion? Don't worry my friend, our nation will rise one day, mark my words.

Also I said "look like" for a reason they're obviously both top 5 NA players but people dont always show up, see cologne. That's why its important that they actually play up to the level that everyone knows they can.

I think the security of knowing you have a player with you that will do anything to see you succeed is heavily underrated. This was an abysmal series for him aside from the W, no denying that, but he is a good fit for this roster. There are probably better players you could fit in but none without huge buyouts.

Astralis was always Mortal, It's just now that people have started to gain slight traction against them. These last few tournaments of this year will actually determine, whether it'll be the Astralis Era, or the FaZe Grand Slam, or something else.

TBF this is a result because Liquid really have respect for a team like MiBR and without Zews behind them they really have to take these games seriously, Astralis played completely cocky no respect for C9 at all, doing anything they want and still won easy. Also want to say Skadoodle was a beast in that match wish he could play like that more often.

Four of the eight best teams in the world will be out in groups, what’s the problem? C9 and mibr didn’t even had enough time to practice, nothing more natural than losing to astralis and liquid

I'm just saying that this is not a tournament with 16+ teams, it's just the eight best teams, there's absolutely nothing wrong with going out in the group stage Except for navi and faze, any other team in the world would probably lose too. Don't know about mouz with snax

mibr has known tarik was joining since Cologne and have been practicing with him since around the same time. That's like atleast 2 weeks, which is more than enough time to get some defaults in and study the teams they are playing. The problem with MiBR is that none of their roles make any fucking sense. Like look at Liquid, they, along with Astralis and NaVi, have very defined roles and everyone knows what they should be doing. Ever since mibr added stew, they've looked like a team where everyone is unsure of what they are doing and they all seem lost. I think adding NA players to a BR team is gonna cause mibr to disband tbh

Liquid have the whole package to be a top team for a long time, I think it's very unlikely that any team will be able to beat to them with just some defaults. But I got the point, mibr roles since adding stew were just awful I think they played better today than with boltz though, some glimpses of intelligence here and there

They are fine being a top 6 team. They will never be a top 3 team with taco. If they wanna achieve more and be remembered they need to change him. But if you guys are ok with them as a top 6 team then that's fine too.

somehow you’ve determined that because Liquid have lost 2 grand finals to the best team in the world and had like 2 bad tournaments that’s they are only ever gonna be top 6? They are top 3/4 easily rn and I guarantee Liquid wins a 250k by the end of the year.

Top 3 is astralis Navi faze. Then there is a gap then there is mouz liquid fnatic. If you think having taco on liquid will make your team a consistent top 3 team then you're a delusional fan. Damn I'm even a Chelsea die hard and ild never be so blind to know what needs to be changed in order to the best.

"Man oh man this looks scary" - reddit retard 2018 Anyone who thought tarik joining this team would give it identity and improve it was delusional. Anyone who thought he added enough to make this a true firepower squad was also delusional The issues in this team run deep. The mistakes they make are easy to fix, and that they haven't been is a travesty. What a dreary spectacle it has been watching these former greats crumble

fer's suggestion of hiring Stew when the s1mple/flamie deal fell through was the worst idea ever. And I doubt tarik's addition does anything for them.. There obviously have been internal issues with the SK/MiBR trio for a while now. This core seems to have lived long and be done , no wonder cold wants out..
