niko to step in for OpTic in StarSeries qualifier

HEROIC talent Nikolaj "⁠niko⁠" Kristensen will be OpTic's fifth player in the European qualifier for StarSeries i-League Season 6, HLTV.org has learned.

The 20-year-old will be standing in for the team as a replacement for Kristian "⁠k0nfig⁠" Wienecke, who will be away on holiday while the qualifier is taking place.

In the tournament, niko will reunite with his former Heroic teammates Jakob "⁠JUGi⁠" Hansen and Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer, who left the team in April to further their careers in the North American organisation.

niko will play for OpTic in the StarSeries qualifier

The Danish team recently qualified for their first Major after finishing in second place at the Europe Minor, where they beat Ninjas in Pyjamas and ENCE in the playoffs before losing to Jonas "⁠Lekr0⁠" Olofsson's side in the battle for the title.

OpTic have been seeded into the qualifier's second playoff round, in which they will take on the winner of the match between FORZE and EURONICS. The tournament winner will earn a spot at the StarSeries, where $300,000 will be on the line.

With niko filling in for OpTic, the Danish team will take part in the qualifier with:

René "⁠cajunb⁠" Borg
Jakob "⁠JUGi⁠" Hansen
Nicklas "⁠gade⁠" Gade

Where have you got Cajun being their best player? He’s playing alright but I’d rather have someone younger and with a higher skill ceiling. Snappi is a decent igl imo and if gade can keep up the form he showed at the minor Cajun is the obvious cut. However like I said currently I’d rather cut gade than Cajun as overall gade has been pretty lackluster

Cajun is literally the opposite of a onliner currently you just look at his base rating and think he is worse but if you only look at his lan rating it is superior to k0nfigs and jugis He is by far their most consistent player he is consistently near the very top of the scoreboard while k0nfig and jugi are either off or on

Faze would get an auto invite for starseries. If fact most top 10 teams would get an auto invite for this tournament lol. While I do understand the frustration of not having your star player with you, the team and org probably already knew ahead of time, so I personally don't see it as too much of a big deal. Plus spacesoilders are prob the only team id worry about in this qualifier anyways. So im sure optic with niko are still probably favorites.

I'll be surprised if Konfig is on Optic in 2019 unless this lineup makes major improvements in placings. I realize that's a different conversation. It doesn't seem to be quite working out to me though and Konfig is a Tier 1 player in every sense of the word. Could be totally wrong but stuff like this makes me think that the commitment level isn't quite what you'd want it to be.

Yah I don't see them going anywhere with this lineup . If they were able to grab Valde and Kjaerbye from north somehow and team them k0nfig, jugi, and snappi, then i can see them doing damage as a danish squad. But other than that, probably nothing more than tier 2.

Kjaerbye has no business being on a team with k0nfig I don't think Valde could have replaced gade at one point, but I think his style on north had changed to where he wouldn't be a good fit Gade and snappi are the only question marks, and aizy and msl might be the only people you'd want instead of them

There is an amazing amount of comments under this article suggesting that NiKo from Faze Clan will be on loan although the article CLEARLY states that it is niko from Herioc.
