ESL has revealed the official English broadcast team for the upcoming ESL One event in New York.

The talent crew for the $250,000 event sees renowned desk host Alex "Machine" Richardson team up with Lauren "Pansy" Scott in one of the casting pairs for the tournament, the other one being the popular Matthew "⁠Sadokist⁠" Trivett-Henry "⁠HenryG⁠" Greer combo.

OJ Borg will be the stage host, while Tres "⁠stunna⁠" Saranthus will be at the analyst desk together with three experts: Mathieu "⁠Maniac⁠" Quiquerez, Chad "⁠SPUNJ⁠" Burchill and Duncan "⁠Thorin⁠" Shields.

ESL One New York will run from September 26-30, with $250,000 on the line. The first three days of the event will be played backstage, while the final two days will be held at the iconic Barclays Center.

He's one of the few people who are well spoken in the casting scene without any awkward pauses in between besides some cringey jokes. I'm no thorin fan, but you can't have a snoozefest of a desk... This is why UFC, when John Anik, Dominic Cruz, and DC all began casting was boring as hell after Goldberg left. Now that Goldberg is just color casting and not being too indepth, everyone loves it again.

I don't see how he's not knowledgeable he recalls a lot of events and historical changes that many people cant off the top of the of his head, as #78 is well spoken, and keeps conversation flowing. He may not be able to read the game like spunJ and ynk who are both ex-IGLs but thats not why he's there when you have spunj and maniac at the desk who can both do that very proficiently. He builds hype for matches and brings comedic value which allows the other casters/analysts to be more free in what they say.

i mean think what you want but everything you say is just your opinion, no one needs analysts to be free in what they say, when i watch an analyst desk i dont cringey and edgy jokes every 10 seconds which ‘apparently allows analysts to be free’ and shade being thrown to pro players which just created a negative atmosphere for the scene overall. Thorin doesnt add anything to an analyst desk that is in all ways positive, he is not funny, he in no way builds hype and id rather have a deep thoughtful analysis from an ex-pro that deserves to be on a desk rather than some ginger cum stain that has subpar CSGO knowledge and constantly giving unthoughtful analysis and comments. Yes we do need analysts to be free in what they say otherwise its just humdrum "this player did this, he can do this but he wasnt really feeling it this game" Im not saying the ex IGL analysts arent insightful but having 3 of them on the desk is unnecessary. Legit all he does is build hype about the historical context of the matches especially the high level ones .
