pyth, hemzk9 join PAPERPLANES

PAPERPLANES have bolstered their squad with the additions of Jacob "⁠pyth⁠" Mourujärvi and Jonas "⁠hemzk9⁠" Rantamäki, the Swedish team have told HLTV.org.

The two new players will step into the shoes of Hugo "⁠ZER⁠" Halvorsen and Tim "⁠nawwk⁠" Jonasson, with the former having been cut from the team, while the latter left of his own accord.

pyth had been on the lookout for a new challenge since being released by Chaos, in July, after just two months with the organisation. hemzk9 became a free agent on Thursday after spending a season with Wind and Rain, who finished in 20th place in ESEA MDL.

The former Ninjas in Pyjamas member, who won an IEM trophy and a DreamHack Masters title while with the Ninjas, spoke of his excitement to be part of a team with young talents and vowed to prove his worth again after spending the last year off the grid.

"I am excited to be joining up with these talented players," pyth told HLTV.org. "My motivation is at the top right now, and I will give it all to show everyone what I am capable of.

"I feel like we have a really good mix of players and I'm confident we will do big damage. I believe in this project, and, hopefully, we will find the support to go all the way!"

PAPERPLANES will be in action next month at Cross Border Esport 2018, in Sønderborg, Denmark, after the majority of the roster won the closed qualifier for the event while playing under Wind and Rain. The team will also compete in the next ESEA MDL iteration, having finished in ninth place in Season 28, with a 9-7 record.
