NiP knock Heroic out; to semi-finals

Ninjas in Pyjamas won Nuke 16-4 and Overpass 16-11 against HEROIC to secure a spot in the semi-finals at DreamHack Masters Stockholm.

The match started off on HEROIC’s pick, Nuke, with Patrik "⁠f0rest⁠" Lindberg taking down four players on defense to give Ninjas in Pyjamas the first round of the series. With f0rest and Jonas "⁠Lekr0⁠" Olofsson going off with around 150 ADR each the Swedes quickly took the lead, 8-2, as HEROIC were unable to find their way through the defenses. With 11-2 on the board, Lekr0 got a big four-kill round to keep Ninjas in Pyjamas red-hot before the half, which ended 13-2 for the Ninjas.

The second half started out with Ninjas in Pyjamas spreading out through the map, ending in a 1vs2 with Fredrik "⁠REZ⁠" Sterner and Christopher "⁠GeT_RiGhT⁠" Alesund going up against a low-health Patrick "⁠es3tag⁠" Hansen in the inside bombsite who was able to clutch it out to keep his team in contention. Dennis "⁠dennis⁠" Edman and f0rest then got doubles on the forcebuy to clear the way to a round win. Despite losing the follow-up, Ninjas in Pyjamas made an explosive A play to get on match point, which they followed up with a B play to win the first map, 16-4.

NiP make it to the final four in Stockholm

Overpass started with Ninjas in Pyjamas once again taking the first pistol round on the CT side. With the weapons advantage, having planted in the first round, HEROIC were able to make the best of their advantage to get on the board in the third round, but Ninjas in Pyjamas immediately bit back shutting down the Danish-Swedish side several times in a row for a 5-1 lead. Asger "⁠AcilioN⁠" Larsen was finally able to win a 1vs2 in a B afterplant against GeT_RiGhT and REZ. Up 7-3, f0rest came up huge late in the eleventh round in a 1vs3 on B by killing the bomb carrier with 7 seconds on the clock. With AcilioN leading the way, HEROIC found the key to making it through Ninjas in Pyjamas’s defense to bring it back to within one, 7-8.

A triple by Andreas "⁠MODDII⁠" Fridh helped HEROIC tie it up in the pistol round, which he followed up with a 1vs2 clutch after REZ opened the second round with an AK triple kill to take the lead for the first time. Ninjas in Pyjamas then once again took the lead, 11-9, after the first three gun rounds. The Swedish side then got on a roll, finding the crevices in the HEROIC defense, making it to 13-9 and destroying their rival’s economy. Despite a late push by HEROIC to bring it back, the hometown favorites were finally able to close it out, 16-11, moving on to the semi-finals.

What i don't get is why heroic didn't pick mirage since it had worked so well for them in the other matches (even with faze although they choke they managed to make a very good map almost getting away with it). INSTEAD thry pick Nuke...match fix¿?

f0rest's back, wish we could see f0rest, get_right, neo, taz competing for the best trophies again

f0rest has always been consistent, it's what always kept NiP from completely drowning. sometimes he has off performances but that's understandable. but when you see how long he's been playing cs, it's just remarkable. compare him to the likes of Edward and NEO or even get_right and see how he's doing in comparison. an absolute god of the game.

I completely agree, these 2 (f0rest and neo) have always been my favourite players since I found out that CS actually had a competetive scene. It's just amazing to still see them performing against all the top teams after 12 or 13 years. It's kind of heart breaking for me to see neo struggling so much, but I still believe he's gonna bounce back. I'm glad to see at least f0rest found a way to show us a tiny bit of his old self. I kinda wish to see these 2 legends in one team some day, at the end of their careers at least. Imagine f0rest, neo, gtr & taz in one team, would be a dream line up for me, no matter who'd be the 5th. I know they'd probably struggle even vs tier 3 teams, but still it would be a pleasure to watch for the old schoolers and would probably attract a lot of people
