FACEIT Major 2018 Challengers StageHellRaisers best North in overtime
HellRaisers gave up a seven round lead on match point during regulation, but were eventually able to overcome North in overtime to win Overpass 19-17.
HellRaisers and North started their run at the FACEIT Major on Overpass, with CIS team on CT and the Danes on the Terrorist side. It was Özgür "woxic" Eker & co. who made their way to A and after planting in 4vs2 were able to quickly close out the first round. With 3-0 on the board, North were able to take the first gun round as Philip "aizy" Aistrup and Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen, with doubles, were able to turn the round in their teams favor. The follow-up, however, went the way of HellRaisers, who reset their rivals and kept a three round lead on the scoreboard.
The attackers quickly gained control of the half, making it 7-1 as North struggled to get their financial game going. North, who were able to make it 2-7, were once again unable to follow it up, getting reset for the second time in the half as woxic and Bence "DeadFox" Böröcz got deuces. Finally, North were able to start to wake up, getting three rounds in a row to bring it back to 8-5 before closing the round within one, 7-8.
Once again, HellRaisers won the pistol round, this time thanks to an opening double by woxic and a closing triple by Kyrylo "ANGE1" Karasiow. Having won the first gun round, with 13-7 on the board, HellRaisers started to get a big lead going late into the match. After a clean B execute, North were finally to get a round on the board on the attacking side. Once again, though, the Danes would go on to get reset, clearing the way for HellRaisers to take the match, but a late push by North, winning round after round, put them back in the match as HellRaisers were unable to close it out after making match point.
With the match headed to overtime, it was North as Ts carrying the momentum from regulation time who were able to take the first round, but HellRaisers with a big four-kill round by woxic were able to keep it even before carrying the lead into the switch, 17-16. An aggressive defense on B and Mid didn't work out for North, as DeadFox and ANGE1 punished two of the CTs to help their team to match point, 18-16, as DeadFox finished the round with four kills. Despite losing the first round after the switch, HellRaisers were finally able to seal the deal, 19-17.
