FACEIT Major 2018 Challengers StagecompLexity beat Vega Squadron; to New Legends Stage
Complexity were able to beat Vega Squadron in overtime on Inferno, 19-15, to qualify for the New Legends Stage with a 3-1 record in the Swiss group stage.
Vega Squadron and Complexity kicked off their match on Inferno with the Russian-Ukrainian side taking the pistol round on the attacking side, quickly following it up to take the 3-0 lead into the first gun round. With both teams fully bought, Vega Squadron were able to overtake Complexity on A as Igor "crush" Shevchenko broke the North American’s teams defenses to increase their lead. Vega Squadron failed to clear out B properly in the follow-up and gave Complexity their first round as the timer hit zero with the bomb not down. Complexity were then able to retake and defuse the bomb in extremis after a Mac-10 rush on B by Vega Squadron to tie it 4-4.
Complexity quickly took the lead from there on out, winning round after round and building a big bank while Vega Squadron struggled with lesser buys. Finally, it was the North American side that was able to close the half out without giving another round, 11-4, before kicking off the second half.
A triple kill by Rory "dephh" Jackson on the offense got Complexity into the B site to plant, but Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov clutched a 1vs3 retake to keep his team in the match. The big lead Complexity had at the half was quickly reduced after Vega Squadron won the first five rounds of the second half, making it 9-11. After letting Vega make it to double digits, the North American team finally found the cracks in the defense, winning two rounds to make it 13-10.
Complexity managed to get up 14-11, but Vega Squadron managed to stay alive, stopping an A play by the North American side, bringing it to within two and forcing the Terrorists on an eco. FInally, Complexity found themselves on match-point, 15-13, in a 3vs3 mid-round trying to make it into A, but a triple by Pavel "hutji" Lashkov kept the game alive, eventually allowing Vega Squadron to make overtime.
The extra rounds began with Complexity getting ahead, which they were able to follow-up as Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan got a quad-kill including two entries on the B site. Leading 18-15 after changing sides, Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz was able to close it down for his team winning a 1vs2 clutch on the B site.
