BLAST announce Lisbon stop in December; São Paulo, Miami, Madrid in spring 2019

BLAST has announced four new Pro Series tournaments, including a Lisbon stop taking place on December 14-15, and three more for the spring of 2019, hosted by São Paulo, Miami, and Madrid.

The stop in Lisbon, which will close out BLAST's calendar for 2018 in mid-December, will take place in the 20,000-seater Altice Arena in Portugal's capital city.

The Danish tournament organizer has also announced three out of a total of eight stops planned for 2019, including one in São Paulo in March, Miami in April, and Madrid in May.

Current champions Astralis will be in action at the last BLAST Pro Series stop of 2018 in Lisbon

Each of the four tournaments will feature a $250,000 prize pool, the same amount BLAST have allocated for their previous stops, which were played in Istanbul and Copenhagen.

BLAST has revealed five out of six teams taking part in the Lisbon, Portugal stop:

Cloud9 have a type of partnership with the owner of Blast pro series, wich is the owner of Astralis as i understand it. This is a tournament organizer that goes with the same teams because thats the deal when it started i believe.

We're inforcing stricter tournament rules and a different level of hospitality. We need to test that, get feedback, implement at a new tournament, test again, get feedback again and that's what we're doing. Same "test subjects" makes it a better product overall. That's one reason Thats the answer they gave on Twitter

It's probably about viewership, but I think the only valid 3 teams to invite consecutively would be Astralis, FaZe & Mibr. I really like the fact that they attempt to get a local team each time tho'

It's because of our fanbase in Portugal, i guess. NIP for us mean much more than Faze for example, just because of f0rest and GTR, legends taht we never forget. Portugal have one of the oldest cs fanbase in world, so 1.6 legends means a lot for us. Cloud9 i understand, for been a new, after roster change, and flusha is there, another guy that we like a lot. Faze with Olofmeister and Niko making our day, MiBR just for being MiBR xD and Astralis the best team in the world, wich have a lot of fans here too. TBH, all the guys and teams that portuguese people want to see, is in this event. Probably Na'Vi to be the dream event ever, and if come Na'Vi, just be in fault KennyS to be here all of the most beloved players and teams of portuguese fanbase.

Because Lisbon is on the center of the country... It can be close enough from either south or north of the country... Also, the biggest arenas are in Lisbon (Altice Arena or FIL) which takes more people than the biggest arena in Porto (which is capable of holding 6000 people under the same roof, comparing to 12000 [Altice arena] and 20000 people [FIL])

Fanbase is an important thing for BLAST. NIP aren't really good atm but they have a great fanbase. MIBR is the team with the greatest fanbase in Portugal as a not portuguese team.

the stadium will be filled anyway without giants There is literally 0 reason to invite giants, sure they did the same in other locations but the difference is that locations actually had good teams which giants are not. There is no way the arena will be full, I already been on that arena an in moche xl they only used half of the arena. The teams invited are all more famous than giants and more loved than giants, there are ton of portuguese people like me that do not care about giants but I care about the other teams because they are actualyl good at cs, Im going to this event because of this teams, if giants is there it only would give me less reasons to buy the ticket. But sadly u are right, blast pro will prolly think that giants is a good addition to the event which will make the event worse.

We will see. We need to support more the portuguese teams. Without any support they feel lonely and can't get better. But it's my opinion. I'm happy to have such an event in Portugal. Sadly I'm living in switzerland so I will miss the second big event this year.

Nope we don´t need to support portuguese teams, that is what a fanboy thinks and would say. I support every team in the world as long they show hard work and actually will to win, that is why I dont support portuguese teams that are made because of friendships, overrated trash players like mutiris playing with fox is a joke. I used to be hardcore fox fanboy in hltv since 2014 and I already gave up he has 80 IQ and does not understand how to actually have a good team in cs. Portugal cs will never be good, the soon you undersand that, the faster you will become like me and stop being a delusional fanboy. CS is not a esport made for portuguese people, harsh fact.
