Lemondogs scrape Dreamhack win

In front of 1,100 people, Lemondogs managed a hard-fought win against SK Gaming to clinch the Dreamhack Summer title.

The new Dreamhack Arena served as the perfect venue for the tournament as there was not a single vacant seat during the final.

Things did not start well for SK Gaming, who lost the first half on de_nuke 10-5 while playing as CT. When the teams switched sides, SK rarely broke through Lemondog's defence, this way losing the first map 16-10.

On de_train, SK Gaming fared a lot better despite taking just nine rounds as CT. In the second period, Lemondogs played well, with Rasmus "Gux" Stahl excelling, but SK's organized attack put an end to LD's dream of a 2-0 win.

The third and decisive map was de_dust2, where SK Gaming got off to a flying start, taking several rounds in a row to go into the second period leading 12-3. Lemondogs came on strong here, making SK Gaming sweat and forcing an overtime. In extratime, they took two rounds on each half to win the third map 19-16 and Dreamhack Summer 09.

didnt SK beat fnatic fairly recently in the group stages of ESWC Korea? either that or it was Kode5, i forget which. Any team can have a bad game, for SK it always seems to be in the final. 2nd place for life it seems. You cant accuse them of not being consistent in that respect

I know I am getting too excited when talking about Fnatic but really: Extreme Masters Global Finals GOLD ESL Pro Series Scandinavia Finals SILVER ESWC 2009 - Cheonan GOLD Kode5 - Moscow GOLD I am not saying that SK can't beat Fnatic - not at all, but when people are trying hard to prove that Fnatic & SK are on THE SAME level, I can't agree. There is very popular saying on HLTV.org, that any team in top 5 can beat each other - everything depends on luck and current disposition. While I can't disagree with that, treating every top team almost the same is a bit ... strange.

You dont know much about the swedish cs scene do ya? These guys have played in the same teams before, its just that GT outshined some and got a chance to play with a well established team like fnatic, same goes for gux. They both were interviewed today and both stated the same. They are all basicly at the same skillevel in LD just that some are in better clans then others. If you look at these guys individually they are all better then the SK players. face - played in blank, along with niko and gux< before fnatic. kHRYSTAL -> mix king, performed amazing in KOTH and could easily be apart of the original line up for fnaic aswell as gux. THREAT > swedens shootoutking. 2nd place in aim_ugt_2009, were players like f0rest, GeT_RiGhT, all SK players, and many more competed. And also, is now in the Guiness book of world records > THREAT most consecutive wins at a shootout, here at dreamhack summer he managed to stay undefeated for 52 aim matches. MIX > YES. But individually they are better then any team in the world.

I wouldn't say that ! if you look at the match again you will see that all of the players played very well !!! The timming and aim was perfect ! Basicly after nuke I knew it would be lemondogs ! :]

that´s right if sk lose to a team mix with gux and get to fnatic they are nothing, i can´t see now a team that can make front to fnatic, mtw have to recover the bad performances in the last maches and sk to.

Lol , everyone seems to think that sk sucks now. just because they lost to a mix ( 2fnatic -3lemondogs , wouldn't call that a "real mix tho") The lemondogs mix are 5 really skilled players , wouldn't blame any team for loosing against them. GO SK! :d

lemondog isnt a mix at all... get right threat and khrystal played together at lan klan, later they become giants... and gux and face played at blank... i mean, sure they doesnt practice as much as sk together but they know each other well. And those who said that just gux and get right did well, you may not see face during all the tournament... he was always on top of the scoreboard... lemondog's player could easily play for sk or fanatic... they are really skilled.

You dont understand how SK works....Sk already knows that this team is one of the best.....they wont change lineup...they have won over all the best teams in the latest tournaments and fnatic too....you really think you should change players then? is that smart? :) do you think that mTw that have lost to SK should change lineup to? and maby Wicked also? they also lost to SK. dude i couldnt agree with u more... +1 regards... everytime sk lose a match, here they are, asking for replaces, but when they won mtw, and wicked, no 1 says nothing... grow up kids... and if any1 needs to be replaced, its not zet for sure. i dont know whats going on, but sk Terrorist side is always awesome, but defending, i dont know... this year, is sk year...

I think RobbaN is the most overrated player of SK. If you have followed him all the way in his carreer you would think otherwise. But ofc he's a great talent, that's not what i'm saying, and he makes a great impact on the team.

You cant seriously mean that zet is placed 2nd.. After he left source, he hasnt managed to perform, just admit it! Sk needs a replacement, kHRYSTAL/face asap. Walle is maybe better than RobbaN aswell, but SK train is nothing without RobbaN.

SK Needs better defense at de_dust2 @ CT side. They are too weak there... all rounds LD went short A, and they are defending long A. SK line-up is amazing, i agree with FCPORTO. They beated best teams in best events in this year, and they don't need replacements, just more training and that's all.

SK-Gaming is a very good team, its just that the fnatic players are extremely lethal and at top of their game almost every time. Claiming that SK was unlucky, is just bullshit. If SK would have won, than it would have been "omg Lemondogs have been so unlucky". This win of Lemondogs just shows how incredibly strong fnatic is and that the Lemondogs line-up also contains some (future) CS legends. SK doesnt need a line-up change, bringing back players from the past wont help a thing, times are changing, new players will rise and others will fall.
