Finland disqualified from ENC

Finland has been disqualified from the 2009 season of European Nations Championship.

The team gets disqualified due to using an unauthorized ringer in their last match against France, where they Frenchmen cashed in a 2-0 win. This is a clear violation against the European Nations Championship, which led to the disqualification of team Finland.

Finland used Max "ruuit" Aspe in the match against France, standing in for Samu "plastE" Aalto. Aalto was added to the starting roster, while Aspe played the actual match. Finland will now have to watch the 2009 European Nations Championship from the spectating rows.

This leaves Group B with just five teams in the running to reach this year’s LAN finals.

I think the issue was that it was announced that plastE should play, and they used ruuit instead. Not sure though, waiting for ESL to reply again.

Player who is not allowed to play is called a ringer or freelancer. plaste was allowed to play, ruuit wasn't, but he still played. It's as clear as that.

maybe because of the resolution. I've seen that the resolutions was different between the two last matchs of plaste, one in 640*480 and the last match in 1024*728. Did plaste want to change his resolution lol:D

The real question is that why didn't they just put ruuit etc on the roster in the first place since I don't think there's a limit of how many players can be there. They wouldn't have to play normally but for situations like this where you can't get the normal 5 together there would be more players available. Quite stupid from the Finnish team. Of course the problem isn't that huge in ENC since the ringer is also from the same country but I think ESL requires them to be on the roster for them to be allowed to play.

Finland asked french if they could use ruuit as an stand-in, but french - always so fucking serious and willing to win anyhow possible - did not allow to. So, what you gonna do as Finland? That's pretty lame. Then frenchies also constantly changed server just to make sure the pings were exactly the same -.-

when Finland played with Sweden, GeT_RiGhT`s internet went off and Sweden asked if they can use any other player - Finland allowed them to change player and this shows that these 2 countries are friendly xD and they are not just playing to win but to have fun (there are no prize money in ENC). So I agree with TriLogic - these French..................... I'm with stupid! YEHO! The situation between Finland and France is different in counter-strike and you would know if you ever bothered to watch any games. Finland have put themselves in that situation with backbite talk during games between the nations and between emL and CC, so why in hell would they let the trashtalking and flaming fin's to change a player? Still, they disobeyed and france won without any effort. Further on, the game against MYM with the pause didn't hurt MYM "THEY DID NOT KILL ANYONE BEFORE THEY WERE READY", it was just a last resort for MYM to change the results in their favor, so please get ur facts right and from both sides and not some MYM biased crap.

What I meant with my statement was that why are you saying that Finns in particilulary are trash talkers and not good sportsmen when players from your country are twice as bad, or that is what I've understood when reading in Swedish cs forums. And as a suggestion, go watch that vid in fragbite were nasu talked about this "in-mature" behavior finns have between games.

they did it 2 times. The first time, they paused the match a the end of a round because they had some problem - don't remember what. The second time was an error, they didn't mean to pause the game, but harts pressed involuntarily the wrong key. Anyway, this is totally out of the topic, and I don't want to waste my time to argue with polish fanboys on that

U just get the impression of that when watching the game, they seem to be so "tight" (like nervous or something). 2) 3 french players had like 30 ping, 2 players had like 50. 3 of finnish players had 30 ping, and two had smth like 45±2. I dont see big disadvantages, not enough to change the server. 3) I noticed =) 4) No (well, roccat won NGL and finished second at ngl3, it was very close); but they recently crushed france in the cbcup with a different lu, while france played with that one. U know, the deal is that Finland sucks at cs. It is always the team that has lots of potential, skill, good players, good internet... But finnish players never get to the very top. Because they dont get a stabile team with a stabile practise. They just dont practise enough. Why? I dunno. Its hard to be a fan of Finnish teams. He was in the lineup for the match against Poland but at a given moment was replaced by Friis. Nevertheless, in the end, Sunde again was added to the lineup taking out Friis. Nix0n just added the update in this thread too besides the match thread. That is the explanation of the "Sunde affair" ;)

You can't criticise ENC organizers for disqualifying Finland since they clearly broke the rules when ruuit played eventhough he wasn't added to the lineup in time to play. However, it shows extreme unsportsmanship from the players of the French team not to allow a player to play. It is a cup of Nations so why on earth do you forbid a Finnish player from playing in team Finland. I guess there has been stupid behavior from both Finnish players towards emuLate and the other way around but to continue the tradition eventhough it is not at all necessary is extreme childish and ridiculous. Gives a really good impression of their character. I'm not at all saying that some of the Finnish players are any better but if someone else has acted stupidly, it doesn't make it right for you to be an ass. I don't know who this ozstriker is who made the decision but the players from emuLate probably had an influence as well.

That being exactly my point. I don't think there's anything "unfair" about Finnish teams, some players may like to whine if they're irritated. I do agree, whining is stupid, but it shows also something about the French team if they think they can rightfully be total donkeys if the opponent has said something in previous tournaments. And it always takes 2 sides for an argument, even Finnish cs players don't get irritated for no reason. From what I have gathered, emL players haven't exactly tried to be helpful either with their "ferme ta gueule" type of talk..
