device claims ECS Season 6 MVP award

Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz has been named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the ECS Season 6 Finals by HLTV.org and betway.

The Danish AWPer scoops the award for his consistency throughout the tournament, having been Astralis' best-rated player (1.19) and the most impactful member in round wins.

The 23-year-old was already leading the MVP race leading up to the final, and he played well enough in the series to remain at the top of the pile, beating off competition from teammates Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander and Peter "⁠dupreeh⁠" Rasmussen, Astralis' top-rated players in the title decider.

device wins his sixth MVP medal of this year

Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David was also a strong contender for the award before the final match, while Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo entered the fray with strong individual performances on both maps.

device ranked first for KDD (+54) and total kills (252), and was in the top five in seven other leaderboards, most notably rating, kills per round (0,79), percentage of rounds with at least one kill (52.7%) and AWP kills per round (0.28).

This is the 11th MVP award of his career, the sixth since the start of the year after he also claimed the honour at the ECS Season 5 Finals, ELEAGUE Premier, FACEIT Major, BLAST Pro Series Istanbul and IEM Chicago.

It's easier to topfrag on navi then it is to topfrag on astralis, but yet Device still remains to pull up the numbers. Considering that Astralis is very teambased and strict, while navi is more freeplay and S1mple can freely jump around the map. The discussion about who will be number one will be ongoing until it's decided, until then we should just appreciate those 2 players we have right now. None of them are bad, they're incredibly skilled both of them, but in there own way.

S1mple and Device has the same amounts of mvp's this year, but Device has 2 1.000.000 dollar tournaments mvp's which one of them is a major. Device has won twice as many lans then S1mple, and he has remained consistent the entire year, the same with s1mple. If you only look at rating then s1mple will be number one. But to be the best, you need to win titles and especially majors. I'm pretty sure that Device will be number one, and s1mple wil definitely be number 2.

Achievements are a HUGE part of hltv rank... try looking at 2014 rank, Kennys should be at least top 3, he was a fucking beast this year no one came even close to his level, but Titan didn't win shit, so Get_right got first spot cuz of titles. No matter how good the player is, he must win big tournaments to get #1. And that makes sense, because it doesn't matter how good you are if you don't win anything. PS: not a device fanboy, i actually think s1mple is better, but thats just how it works.

Yes but you have to understand s1mple is on the second best team in the world and its not like he doesnt have achievemetns. navi have won a few tourneys this year and placed really well in most of them, + He has almost as many MVPS as device this year (and may I note, only reason device got those MVPS is because of Astralis dominating everyuone and he did margainly better than his team, all of s1mples MVPS were due to pure dominance and he even won 2 while not winning the tournament) i still strongly believe that, although achievements are a "huge" part of HLTV ranking, his stats are so much better than any other persons stats in the history of CSGO (when comparing top of 201x) that he has to be #1, and even if HLTV doesnt put him as that plenty of analysts such as Thorin have already put him at #1 and rightly so.

True Astralis has 2 players who are top 5 material Device & Magisk and Na'vi has 2 players who are top 5 material s1mple and electronic. Where Astralis beats them out is their IGL is a better fragger, better strats, better fundamentals, better structure etc etc their support player is the best in the world and also the best clutcher of all time in CS Go and on top of that they have the best entry fragger in the entire game.

You are not wise, pls check how many clutches he loses compared to xp9x, also he misses silly awp shots. There are lot of videos. Watch all demos of past 2 years, semi finals, and finals. Dupreeh and xp9x both responsible for entries and clutches.

i'm aware that device is not a clutcher, but he's certainly not an eco-farmer either. that award goes to magisk, dupreeh or glaive. device probably has more exit kills because he has the awp and can't afford to die as much as the other players, but he also has more opening kills than anyone on astralis' team (check the stats) and lots and lots of mid-round impact kills.
