x6tence Galaxy defeat compLexity; advance to DH Winter playoffs

x6tence Galaxy are through to the DreamHack Open Winter playoffs after defeating Complexity 2-0 in the Group A decider (16-11 on Nuke and Inferno).

x6tence Galaxy and Complexity kicked off the best-of-three series on Nuke, with the Swedes starting on the T-side. Tim "⁠nawwk⁠" Jonasson and Nicolas "⁠Plopski⁠" Gonzalez Zamora's double kills secured the pistol round for x6tence Galaxy who made it 3-0 after winning the first gun round.

Linus "⁠Bååten⁠" Andersson clutched a 1vs4 to make it 6-0 and the Swedish side secured two more rounds to lead 8-0. Complexity responded by taking six of the following seven rounds, finishing the half 9-6 behind.

x6tence Galaxy will face Bravado in the semis

After Complexity picked up the first two rounds in the second half, Bååten won a 1vs1 to keep his team ahead (10-8). Complexity managed to tie the game twice but x6tence Galaxy grabbed five consecutive rounds to win the map 16-11.

The CT-sided x6tence Galaxy secured the pistol round on Inferno thanks to nawwk's triple kill. André "⁠BARBARR⁠" Möller & company dominated the early parts of the game, leading 5-1. Jaccob "⁠yay⁠" Whiteaker clutched a 1vs3 and got an ace in the eleventh round, giving Complexity their fifth (6-5). The North American side picked up three more to lead 8-7 at halftime.

Plopski clutched a 1vs3 in the second pistol to tie the game and his team took the lead after fending off Complexity in the following round (9-8). x6tence Galaxy were leading 12-8 when nawwk had a crucial 1vs3 clutch.

The Swedes managed to win a 3vs5 in the following round, making it 14-8. Bååten's ace and 1vs3 clutch in the 24th round gave his team six match points. x6tence Galaxy finished off the map with a 16-11 scoreline and won the series 2-0, advancing to the semi-finals at DreamHack Open Winter 2018.

Obviously two of the four best teams at the event, G2 vs COL would clearly have been a worse matchup since they both are too bad. How about looking at the performance and not the name of the teams/players?

I dont understand how this team was able to take off maps vs better teams than this at the major and now cant even take one map off x6tence

Yeah but honestly, which good team did they beat at the BO1 major? fnatic? Everyone knows that that fnatic lineup was terrible BIG? Unstable team, top 10-15 at best G2? They had SmithZz in the team, no comment. coL did great beating all these teams that should have beaten them, so all credit to them, but they only beat mediocre teams in BO1's. So you can't take too much away from something like that. That's why I want the Kato Major to have a format where you play at least one BO3 before being eliminated in order to restore the integrity of the major.

Nah Plopski is fine among Sweeds. Lets not mess teams up. Plus Mopoz is IGLing for Riders. Even though he has dropped off in performance I don't think he has to be kicked.
