To celebrate Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz's MVP award of the ECS Season 6 Finals by HLTV.org and betway, we have put together a highlight reel with some of the player's best moments in Texas.

On the first day of the event, Astralis fell to MIBR in the Group A winners' match, 1-2, but, after defeating MOUZ and Ninjas in Pyjamas, took revenge on the Brazilians with a 2-0 victory in the final.

The 23-year-old AWPer was named the MVP of the event after averaging the highest rating of his team (1.19), the third highest overall. device was also the best player of the tournament in terms of KDD (+54) and kills (252), and was in the top five in six other categories, including kills per round (0.79) and rounds with at least one kill (52.7%).

overall not but gla1ve was close with 1.14 rating + in finals he was much better and impactful with 1.19 rating vs 1.04 rating + hes a igl imo gla1ve deserved it more

ok, so the rating is not soo relevant since you would have given it to a player with lower rating. in that case, i don't know why you write "1.19 rating mvp" like it's a travesty that the mvp was given to a player with this "low" of a rating, when in fact you'd have given it to a player with a lower rating.

not always, sometimes player from loser team gets mvp and he deserve it bcuz of beast perfomance + no one from enemy team is not even close but this is different situation device gets mvp bcuz of 0.05 overall rating over gla1ve but that was not a mvp from perfomance by him while gla1ve was really good especially in finals just looks like hltv robbed gla1ve to get #1 for device

at de taber en 2v1 mod device med en scout og USP burde ikke ske, når de begge har AK og bomben er plantet og de ved hvor han er... der var så mange fejl fra MIBR i den runde, som gjorde det muligt for Astralis..

Enig. Men det er stadig ufatteligt dårligt at fallen smider den 1v1 med med 52 hp. Det er jo ikke ligefrem fordi device ødelægger ham, men bare fallen der fumler. Havde det derimod været cold i den 1v1, havde det nok set anderledes ud.

He wins MVP's cuz he is the best in his team and they win everything. In my opinion, NiKo is better in personal skill. They win tournaments and tournaments cuz they have one of the best teamplays ever. And he wins MVP's cuz he is the best in Astralis. Not saying he is just a noob. He is very good but overrated.

Let's face it. device is INDIVIDUALLY not a better player than s1mple. i think most people will agree to that, even device fanboys should know this. BUT, device plays for a team that is much better than the team s1mple plays for. Hence, Astralis reach more finals and device will therefore be in more contention for a tournament MVP than s1mple will, "simply" because he doesn't reach the grand final as much as device does. The question is if the best player of 2018 should be decided based on who has been the best player on the team who has won the most tournaments (and yes, I think device has OVERALL been the best astralis player in 2018) — or who has better raw aim/mechanics. Not sure about this tbh.

s1mple and NaVi have been in nowhere near as many grand finals as device and Astralis have. If we measure by grand finals and finals wins, then device clearly takes the cake. If we measure by raw fragging power, then s1mple wins.
