eSports Player of the Year nominees

The Electronic Sports League has revealed the six names in contention for the prestigious eSports Player of the Year accolade.

Several public polls had been created on a number of gaming websites for the community to vote for their favourite regional eSports players.

After two weeks of voting, the polls have now been closed and the regional winners announced by the ESL.

The winner of each regional award is automatically in contention for the global honour, with will now be handed, not by the community, but by the ESL academy.

In the final list we see four Counter-Strike players, including fnatic's Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund, and two Warcraft III stars, Nightelf Jang "Moon" JaeHo and Human Xiaofeng "Sky" Li.

The full list of candidates for the "eSports Player of the Year" award is:

Obviously GTR had the most successful year in CS, so he will fight with Moon for this award. Moon has less chance, since he already won it last year, and so far NEO was the only player, who could won this award from Counter-Strike. 90%, that GTR will bring it home, among the "best CS player" award and probably the "breakthrough of the year" as well. Moreover fnatic has a pretty good chance to grab the best team of the year award as well, which would mean a 4-time-success for GTR at the ceremony.

Thats true, but there is only 1 slot for each region, and it's pretty obvious that fnatic gained a lot with GTR & Gux, so GTR deserves this one. However on the "CS player of the year" list, there will be Northern-Europe dominance with more fnatic, mTw and SK players on the list (+ roman).

Roman deserved it more then Gtr, in Eastern Europe Neo in bad shape is still the best and Nothing? because there is many cool Frag movies with him, all frags versus low teams :P In Europe the same thing is with Get_right all love him and saying he is the best and 70% people never saw any match. Right, so n0thing is the only outstanding player that came out of America in late 2008 and early 2009, until the new coL lineup/old x3o lineup started to get good, to which dRew aka Irukandji was alot better. neo has done nothing this year, he is amazing but he hasn't done what GeT_RiGhT and roman have done, which is completely re-vamp 2 teams who were beginning to fall behind. I don't follow wc3 so can't comment on those 2. I'd say its between roman and getright, and since GeT_RiGhT is the better, and more succesful player, GeT_RiGhT should win.

lol why even bother, everyone knows GeT_RiGhT wont loose. Award is based on who has performed best this year. GeT_RiGhT has won every match and event hes participated in. Wether it be with Team sweden, fnatic or Lemondogs. And Top fragging almost every match. Hes so hungry for cs. Playing every big or small competition, even competing in Koth in sweden. You see his name at every event thsi year. No other player can come close performance wise to GeT_RiGhT this year. However I did hope that f0rest woulda been the nominated one as I consider him to be the best all around player in the world...but to bad hes not as hungry as GT playing everywhere bascily. n0thing did well at dreamhack but not much more then that. Neo hasnt performed that great considering what hes capable of. Not any big achievments this year.. And Roman has done well but still not anywhere close to what GT has accomplished. Congrats GT.

I agree with you 100% finally someone who knows what hes talking about. Neo is so overrated, yes he used to be on top but he doesnt perform aswell anymore in the big events like he used to. So many fanbois.. n0thing only did good at dreamhack and Roman has done great overall but not compared to GT

I hope Neo wins this, thats because im his fan :) But when you look at from the more profesinal point of view it would be GeT_RiGhT and i think the comment above me #313 explaines it all :)
