FaZe survive compLexity scare to join 2-2 pool

FaZe have eliminated Complexity at IEM Katowice after defeating the North American side 2-1 (8-16 on Cache, 16-11 on Mirage, and 16-14 on Dust2).

FaZe took on Complexity in the fourth round in the New Legends Stage to avoid elimination. The best-of-three series kicked off on Cache where FaZe started on the CT-side. Complexity rushed the B-site to win the pistol round and made it 3-0 after taking the first gun round.

FaZe secured three of the following four rounds to trail 5-3 but the North American side responded with a four-round streak. Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard got a quad kill in the 13th round to give FaZe their fourth round but Complexity finished the half 11-4 ahead after winning the last two rounds.

Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer and Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač picked up double kills in the second pistol round to give FaZe a fighting chance on the map. The European squad picked up three more rounds to trail 11-8 but lost against a weak buy in the 20th round which opened up with Ricardo "⁠Rickeh⁠" Mulholland's Zeus kill.

FaZe found the opening kill in the following round but couldn't convert it to the round victory as Peter "⁠stanislaw⁠" Jarguz got three kills. Complexity earned seven match points following a successful 3vs3 retake on the A-site and went on to close it out with a 16-8 final scoreline.

The T-sided FaZe started Mirage with the pistol round victory. Complexity hit back in the third round, with Shahzeb "⁠ShahZaM⁠" Khan and Jordan "⁠n0thing⁠" Gilbert winning a 2vs5 using the weapons they saved from the previous round.

The North Americans took the lead with two clean round wins but lost a 4vs2 in the sixth round as Dauren "⁠AdreN⁠" Kystaubayev tied the game at 3-3 with a quad kill. stanislaw got three kills with the AWP to in the following round to reset FaZe's economy. Despite this setback, FaZe clawed their way back and finished off the half with a 9-6 lead.

Complexity secured the second pistol victory and then tied the game at 9-9 thanks to Rickeh’s 1vs1 triumph in the first gun round. FaZe responded in the 19th round as Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács got two kills with the Scout and AdreN helped him out with two Deagle kills (10-9). GuardiaN & company lost only two rounds after that point, winning the map 16-11.

Complexity, who started Dust2 on the T-side, won the pistol round but lost a 5vs3 in the following round. Rickeh clutched a 1vs1 against olofmeister in the ninth round, giving Complexity their fourth (5-4). Rory "⁠dephh⁠" Jackson and ShahZaM won a 2vs4 in the 15th round as Complexity led 8-7 at halftime.

stanislaw's triple kill in the second pistol extended his team’s lead to 9-7. rain returned the favor in the first gun round as he got a triple kill (10-8). Complexity came back from 13-10 to go ahead but FaZe didn't let them get to match point (14-14). NiKo got two crucial kills on Mid in a 3vs3 to win the 29th round and FaZe closed out the map in the following round (16-14). With the 2-1 series victory, olofmeister and company have stayed alive in the New Legends Stage.
