ESL confirms Intel Grand Slam Season 2, with $1 million prize

ESL has formally unveiled the second season of the Intel Grand Slam (IGS), which will continue to feature a $1 million prize.

Kicking off with the IEM Katowice Major, currently in its last-eight stage, the new season will once again reward the first team to win four IGS-eligible tournaments hosted by ESL and DreamHack inside a span of ten events.

IEM Sydney, DreamHack Masters Dallas and ESL One Cologne are the other stops so far confirmed for the season, with more events due to be announced as the tournament season progresses.

Astralis won the first Intel Grand Slam season

The first Intel Grand Slam season began in July 2017 and came to a close in December 2018, when Astralis picked up their fourth win at the ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals after previously winning DreamHack Masters Marseille, the EPL S7 event, and IEM Chicago, further cementing their claim as one of the most dominant teams in Counter-Strike history.

The new season sees the return of the "Giant Killer Bonus", a $100,000 prize that will go to any team that stops an opponent from picking up a fourth IGS win in the grand final of an eligible event.

The event schedule for the second Intel Grand Slam season currently looks as follows:

Poland IEM Katowice Major
Australia IEM Sydney - April 30 - May 5
United States DreamHack Masters Dallas - May 28 - June 2
Germany ESL One Cologne - July 2-7
