NiP secure IEM Sydney invite

Ninjas in Pyjamas have been invited to compete at IEM Sydney, ESL has announced.

The Swedish giants become the sixth team confirmed for the event, joining the previously invited trio of Renegades, FaZe and MIBR, plus BIG and Swole Patrol, the winners of the European and North American qualifiers.

Currently ranked sixth in the world, Ninjas in Pyjamas are one of the eight teams through to the IEM Katowice playoffs, with their quarter-final match pitting them against Astralis.

NiP will attend their first IEM Sydney stop

This will be Ninjas in Pyjamas's first-ever trip to Sydney for an IEM competition. Last year, the Swedish team tried to qualify for the event but were defeated by Virtus.pro in the quarter-finals of the European closed qualifier.

IEM Sydney will run from April 30 through May 5, with the playoffs due to be held at the Qudos Bank Arena. There are now just five invites left as the remaining spots in this 16-team competition will be filled through Asian and Oceania qualifiers.

The team list for the Australian event currently looks as follows:

Australia Renegades
Brazil MIBR
United States Swole Patrol

Fuck E United. Disgraceful what they did to swole. If liquid don’t get invited the liquid org should loan swole patrol Elige nitro Twistzz and Naf to join swag and win that shit.

True. It just pisses me off seeing what EU did to swole. They would have got beat on lan by prob everyone anyway but after watching them win the the qualifier I wanted to watch that pug style cs on lan.

Well let's be fair, eU simply did what orgs do, recruit and sign players. Maybe your angst should be more specifically focused on markE, food, and vanity who straight abandoned swole after qualifying for this event. To be fair, a team with swag unfortunately doesn't have the potential to make majors, which is the ultimate goal of a cs org, but they could have at least done him right by competing in the tourn they qualified for together. But truthful in all of it, s0m got dicked the worst. S0m might not be swag in terms to talent but he is def better than food and vanity, and a good argument for better than markE cause dude is so young and has high potential.

Er you're from the US, land of capitalism, but yet you aren't aware of how businesses and corporations work? By this logic, if you go and interview for 2 jobs, 1 company is quite larger than the other, pays better, and has more potential for you to advance in the company and life in general, you would still choose the lesser of the 2 companies cause you thought the larger one was "bullying" the smaller one cause they have more upside as an employer for you?

That I'll agree with man, they did look like a strong team, young but still strong. I thought they'd have made a solid showing in Sydney but I just can't say I blame eU for the 3 dudes leaving. If there is any silver lining for swole it's swag and s0m, those 2 are ridiculous good and if they can find 3 other solid players to rep swole at Sydney (not sure if that'd be allowed or not), they could totally make some noise at the event.

It doesn't work like it. The qualifier took place before the Major and G2 was invited on the closed qualifier considering they hadn't a better HLTV rank than Vitality. Now Vitality ranked-up in the HLTV ranking so they have even more chances to be invited. On top of that that's not because you were invited to the Closed Qualifier that you can't be invited at the Event. Here is an exemple (LDLC): liquipedia.net/counterstrike/DreamHack/2.. liquipedia.net/counterstrike/DreamHack/2..
