XIX fail to show up

Another team has joined the list of absentees, this time being XIX from Venezuela.

XIX had earned a spot at the event after winning the Venezuelan qualifier for GameGune late last month June.

However, the team have failed to make contact with the GameGune chiefs and have not shown up at the event, which made the organisation look for a substitute.

XIX will now be replaced by Mirage, a Spanish Counter-Strike: Source team that were at Euskal.

Group D now consists of Frag-eXecutors, DTS.chatrix, eSport-Eu and Mirage.

That's a shame. They really had a chance to prove themselves on a bigger stage.

Actually this is irresponsible and some sort of penalty should be imposed on them in terms of future participation.

Of course. A un-sponsored team from a country like Venezuela should be punished because they couldn't field the money or arrange tehir class and work schedules to make it to a tournament. Idiot. Just because you may have the money to fly you and 4 of your friends anytime you want doesn't mean everyone does. It's not like they did it on purpose. XIX is just a group of friends playing CS because they like it. XIX is not an organization and to my knowledge they are not sponsored.

i agree with you but anyway, they should talk to gamegun chiefs before in order to look for a good substitute... not a css team at the last second.. Well sad news :(

That's not the point. Even if they are just a bunch of friends it is still considered as a TEAM. And any team should state in advance if they are having any difficulties with coming to the tournament.

your post is so irrelevant.......even if xix is just a "friend" team and are so poor that you say they are. Then why the fuck do they go win a tournament that qualifies them to another tournament in another country, when they cant pay for the trip and they know it? They should have let the GG people know.

Right, because you shouldn't try to prove how good you are unless you have the funding to go all the way :S The only wrong they did was to not notify with enough time the GG organizers. BTW don't call my point irrelevant because I'm going off on a tangent and then go do the exact same. Refer to #29 to see that they were in fact screwed over by the contracting organizers that ran the event in Venezuela.

Okey i aggree, they should try to prove themself, but not letting GG know that they arent coming is very unproffesional.

No need to call me an idiot. I can understand that they don't have enough money, but they had plenty of time to get this sorted and there is NO excuse for failing to make contact with GameGune. Yes a ban may sound harsh, but if GameGune is serious about deterring these last minute no-shows in the future, they must take a hardline stance.

Yeah I apologize for the insult :( And maybe they are not poor but, look this is what I'm trying to point out: They are probably average fellows and they have been trying to prove themselves for a long time in the international scene. Yes they are a team but not an organization so you cannot expect the same level of (as the term states) organization from them. Look at American players trying to attend Tougueki SBO and sports team trying to attend off-shore leagues. They qualify then they try to raise the money to attend and because life is not a Disney movie sometimes they cant. That's why I believe it would be stupid to penalize a team that is 30 times more disappointed about not being able to attend the tournament than the organizers are over them not showing up. One of the responsibility of tournament organizers is to have a plan to deal with teams that for any reason are unable to show up, yes even in the last minute. Punishing them would just make them bitter and not even try to attend next time.
