BARBARR retires from competitive play; seeks new challenges

The 28-year-old Swedish veteran André "⁠BARBARR⁠" Möller decided to hang up his mouse, but is looking to stay in the scene in a different role.

BARBARR's Counter-Strike playing career, that spanned over more than 10 years, has been brought to an end following his exit from x6tence Galaxy, the Swede announced. During CS 1.6, BARBARR was a part of teams such as MYM and H2k, and finished second at GameGune 2011 with ESC.

BARBARR is looking to transition into a new role, most likely coaching or management

In Global Offensive, BARBARR rose to prominence with Epsilon, where he led the squad of upcoming Swedish players in Fredrik "⁠REZ⁠" Sterner, William "⁠draken⁠" Sundin, Joakim "⁠disco doplan⁠" Gidetun, and Fredrik "⁠freddieb⁠" Buö. Eventually, after the youngsters from that team were picked off, BARBARR made the switch to Singularity and then x6tence Galaxy, finishing 3rd-4th at DreamHack Open Winter 2018 with the latter team.

BARBARR has decided that it is time to retire as a player, but he is still looking to stay in the scene, with coaching and managerial roles being what he feels best suited for, considering his long tenure and experience with young players:

"I'm done with my active career as a player, I feel that my individual level isn't good enough anymore, but I'm sure as hell sitting on a whole lot of information I would like to share with your club. During the last 3-4 years I learned how to evolve talents, mentally especially, as well as in-game. Right now I'm in a phase where im evolving myself, physically and mentally. To be the best human I can be.

Kids like you are so annoying. Trying to be cool and have no respect. Barbarr has played this game for a long time and has certainly done a lot in the swedish scene since the early days of cs. And the swedish scene was the only scene that mattered and was way ahead of everyone for years. If you wanted the best practise you went to the swedes. And just being a semi-elite in sweden meant you were better than most in the world. So DoCC is a huge talent. No doubt. But nothing or nobody from 1.6 are irrelevant. Almost all the plays, positions, strategies, comms, team developement and professionality you ser everyday in every game, has been developed by players when you were in dipers. Barbarr himself was never a legend. But he was a good player in a time when all the best players ever dominated. For me this isn't about barbarr.. this is about kids like you trying to discredit anything that deserves aknowledgement because you have a dream about being a god not having to work for it

BARBARR helped both REZ and draken to go from good to really good top tier players and he´s been working with new upcoming swedish talents such as plopski and naawk. BARBARR is a legend from 1.6 and has helped the Swedish scene to grow for many years. So stop looking at views from twitch and yt and learn the game CS and what makes a legend.

You could pick at least 50 players that had a peak from 2000~2003 with more name than him: Scream, XeqTR, Naikon, Knoxville, Iskall, KSharp, Rambo, Bullseye, Element, Shaguar, BSL, Dark, Vesslan, Potti, Walle, Johnny R, Pred, Eduzin, Pava, Volcano, method, xenon, bds, hyb, Lucchese, quick, Luciano... After that at bare minimum you should pick all the players from fnatic, nip, sk, mtw, pgs, moscow5, navi, Roccat, mousesports, coL, mibr, EYE, Attax and probabilly more... then you have big names in CSGO like all the main teams you know and love and JUST THEN you could place BARBARR alongside obscure names from Begrip, ESC and some other orgs. Your argument would made sense if you were talking about MODDII but BARBARR were never a tier 1 player... how could he be a legend?

In a way he reminds me of THREAT, who was always behind up & coming players with him as the IGL. Once they finally shone as a team and started to show consistency, its players were always picked up by the big org but they, themselves, never really got to experience the pleasure to be a part of the best team in their country. It's really sad because they were really talented as IGLs.

Yeah x6tence is disgusting. Thats why i hope NIP or Fnatic rescue Nawwk asap (Pls NIP, now when Dennis is gone) & that some nordic mix / eu mix picks Plopski up. But Plopski could join a Spanish team since hes half Spanish & speaks Spanish fluently. Example: -Soker/-mopoz +Plopski in Movistar Riders.

I have to say the same with x6tence, although I don't think NiP should pick up nawwk until at least their schedule calms down a little. If they pick him up it has to be for long-term and they still look to be having dennis come back. Plopski hopefully can get a good team too, I hope he stays with the Swedish scene and the scene can get better, they have pieces to get better just need to put them together.

I don't disagree, but there would be a lot he needs to learn if he were to transition to a top tier team that they'd need time to teach him. I assume they chose draken because of the fact they've got multiple matches they need to play this month including a large tournament at the end and 3/4 of the other players in the team already know how he plays well. Regardless, nawwk should only be picked up if they want to go long-term, I think we could agree on that. Plopski could do well in a team like Movistar, I just hope whatever he does that he develops into a better player.
