Astralis top ECS Season 7 EU Week 1, lock first finals spot

Astralis have locked themselves the first spot at ECS Season 7 Finals after topping the first week of play in Europe, beating Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-0 in the grand final (Train 16-9, Inferno 16-1).

The first week of ECS Season 7 in Europe saw six teams coming from the previous season joined by FORZE and AVANGAR, who finished 3-0 and 3-1 respectively in the preceding Pinnacle Cup, compete for a spot at the $500,000 finals taking place in June.

Unsurprisingly, Astralis made their way to the grand final after beating LDLC and AVANGAR without losing a map, although the latter team put up a respectable fight as both Overpass and Inferno went down to the wire.

Astralis secured the first spot at the ECS Season 7 Finals

The other side of the bracket was more closely contested, as FaZe passed the quarter-finals after a three-map series versus Virtus.pro while Ninjas in Pyjamas dispatched of FORZE, with the Swedes then defeating Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač & co. 2-1 despite losing the opening Inferno 2-16.

Although Ninjas in Pyjamas started off well in the grand final with a 9-6 scoreline on the CT side of their pick, Train, the series ended up looking like a whitewash once Astralis went 10-0 on their own defense before dismantling their opponents 16-1 on Inferno.

With the win, the Danes have secured the first European spot at ECS Season 7 Finals out of a total of four allocated to the region, with two more going to winners of week two (March 18-21) and three (April 25-28). The remaining spot will be filled by the team who earned the most prizemoney over the course of the five weeks.

its not astralis fault, but they destroyed the scene, thats what I tried to say. when astralis goes to a tournemant you can pretty much say its 80-20 that they win it ^^. its just not interesting enough, to see them dominating. I like astralis nevertheless, their playstyle is picture perfect tho.

I like the way astralis plays. not too agressive and just play with good communications, tactics, and even their individual play is on a very high level. they are insane and that just destroyed the whole scene for me. Not completely agree with the fact of "Astralis ruined the scene". It's not false but I think others teams ruined the scene too. They doesn't work enought/correctly to beat Astralis. It's CS:Go Astralis can't step down, others teams can step up... Which is ruining the scene it's the gap between Astralis and others teams that's it...

Well, they are probably unbeatable since no one will win against them for the next 3 years. I fucking Hate Astralis so fucking much, I hope their reign is ended and they get washed up and don't win shit after that, they are making CS Boring, I no longer feel the use of watching a game that I know the outcome of, CS is no longer fun and enjoyable due to this dumb strats users , they can't win shit without antistrating or nades for example they have lost to liquid on train in esl pro league cause they couldn't antistrat them and almost lost to Nip on dust2 in katowice and to NaVi on Cache . And after all remember they lost to washed up cloud9 in Copenhagen when it was an aim game. First Person Shooter is for name sake only when people rarely get the chance to shoot them, I am so done right now. i heard most pro players pay a certain amount of money to some csgo developers to protect their cheats but they have to be really really professional in using their cheats. some pay atleast $4k per month and could well above depending on the player.
