Astralis repeat Major victory over ENCE; Liquid demolish NiP

Astralis have picked up their second victory at BLAST Pro Series São Paulo in a keenly-contested affair with ENCE, while Liquid have earned their first points after breezing past Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Viewers were treated to a rematch of the most recent Major grand final in the second round in São Paulo, this time in a best-of-one setting on Dust2, the same map where the Danes had just squeezed past Liquid.

The Danish giants, who began the game on the Terrorist side, came out the brighter of the two teams and strolled to a 5-0 lead. ENCE were unwilling to let the game spiral out of control, though, and tightened up their defence, twice bringing the deficit to a minimum. Up 6-5, Astralis somehow pulled off a 2v4 clutch, a round that pushed Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's men to take control of proceedings and secure a 10-5 advantage.

Astralis end day one with a 2-0 record

Astralis picked up where they left off and secured the pistol round in convincing fashion to further add to their lead. It looked like the Danes had the game under control, but Jere "sergej" Salo rescued ENCE with a Desert Eagle quad kill, inspiring a massive comeback from the Finnish side.

ENCE gained control of the tempo and ran all over the Astralis defence, quickly rebounding from a 1v2 clutch by Emil "Magisk" Reif in the 22nd round, and took the lead for the first time in the game. However, the Danes were unfazed by their opponents' comeback and, just like against Liquid, were the better side in the dying stages of the game to pick up their second victory at the tournament.

Meanwhile, Liquid bounced back from the defeat against Astralis with a demolition job of Ninjas in Pyjamas on Overpass. The early stages of the game were highly contested, but after that the North Americans ran away with the lead, closing out of the half with a commanding 12-3 lead with a strong individual display by Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, who racked up 26 kills on the CT side.

EliGE dropped a 30-bomb in just 19 rounds

More misery was to come for Ninjas in Pyjamas, who could not get a grip on the game after the break. Liquid took four rounds in a row to seal a much-needed victory, one that puts them closer to the top of the group as day one comes to a close.

Very good effort by ence btw. As fairly young team, They show that they can keep up with astralis. But of course against astralis anyway, just getting close game was pretty good at this point.

if anybody can defeat astralis its liquid without a doubt... their match up earlier proved that... Astralis was and I dont use this word often a bit lucky on dd2 against liquid... that device clutch with 1hp could made a huge difference if liquid won that... Liquid are top 5 team at the moment no question...

Astralis with TWO victories against ANY TWO teams after TWO rounds on ANY TWO maps is no surprise: Only ONE TEAM with 6 points after day 1. The "Overlords" can be threatened, but not beaten. The battle against Liquid was some of the most exciting Counter Strike, I've seen, but the outcome was no surprise. The battle against ENCE was a BIG surprise! i thought ENCE was a one-night-stand, one-and-done, one-hit-wonder, but they turn out to be a SERIOUS opponent to ALL teams at the moment!
