SteelSeries release new products

SteelSeries continue to launch new products as they today present the arrival of three brand new products.

It has been quite a while since new products came out from the SteelSeries headquarters, but fresh on the launch of the StarCraft 2 mousepads, SteelSeries are now launching the Xai mouse, the Kinzu mouse, and the 9HD mousepad.

The Xai is a brand new mouse developed by SteelSeries in cooperation with professional gaming teams. Fresh from their press release more information follows on the development:

"We spent three years methodically perfecting the SteelSeries Xai by researching mouse grips used by professional gaming teams such as Fnatic, SK Gaming and Evil Geniuses in order to create a level of performance that gamers have never experienced before," said Bruce Hawver, CEO of SteelSeries. "The SteelSeries Xai’s High Definition sensor offers a huge improvement over the current highest-end gaming mice and it is designed with technical specifications that increase the level of performance results, especially during the most frantic and fast-paced games."

Some of the features of the SteelSeries Xai include:

Ambidextrous shape
7 Programmable macro buttons, 200 strokes per button
Driverless plug-and-play, with 5 profiles
Fully configurable via LCD menu system
100-5,001 counts/inch

The Kinzu is the same shape as the Xai, but an optical mouse and is furthermore 7% smaller. The 9HD mousepad is optimized for the new Xai and Kinzu mice.

All these new products will be available from August 2009. We will do our best to get a few products to review and give away in competitions, so make sure to stick around for more news.

all mousepads like S&S, SL, 4D, SP, etc getting very abrasive because the upper layer gets ripped off. I feel cheated, when a 40-euro GAMING mousepad becomes a rag after a month of using. Thats why i am disappointed in SS products (

heh +1. I had SP.. everyone told me that rough plastic is bad for mouse feet, I didn't care. However, after half a year SP became bold at the center where most used... and the padsurfers I used (even though they are for CLOTH pad), are as new. Now SP is just trash, the surface keeps falling apart and something like sand - tiny pieces of it crunch under the mouse. Awful feeling tbh O_O

those mice are incredibly damn ugly and looks really cheap. I think the one time SS succeeded in making good looking mice is when they teamed up with Microsoft for the 3.0SS and 1.1SS.

The Laser mouse will be amazing imo, first Laser I am interested in and it keeps your config/setup stored? That is a huge +. The pad... well the players are not using it at e-stars from the vids ive seen but are using the mouse. Pricey though

The Xai looks so nice but it's too expensive. It is the first mouse that could change my opinion about the 1.1 / 3.0 being the best mouse :P
