Cloud9 add cajunb

The North American organization has made the signing of René "⁠cajunb⁠" Borg official.

The news comes following the report on Monday that cajunb was Cloud9's main target prior to BLAST Pro Series Miami, where they were looking to field in the 29-year-old Danish player.

Dexerto had previously claimed that negotiations between the aforementioned two parties were taking place for a possible deal after the Dane was removed from OpTic's roster at the end of March.

cajunb is officially part of Cloud9

The spot on Cloud9's roster opened up after they parted ways with Fabien "⁠kioShiMa⁠" Fiey on Monday, which caused them to lose the majority of the roster that competed at the IEM Katowice Major, where they finished in 9-11th place.

"When you join an organization like Cloud9 there will always be a lot of pressure and expectations. I will do my best together with my teammates to make sure we succeed and make the fans proud." said cajunb on Cloud9's website.

"I'm excited for a veteran like cajunb to begin playing with Cloud9. I believe he can teach our young players a lot from his years of experience in Counter-Strike." said Jonathan Tran, the General Manager of Cloud9's CS:GO division.

"It’s rare to see such an extensive esports career as cajunb has, so we’re really pleased about getting a chance to work with him. Welcome to Cloud9, cajunb!" added Jack Etienne, the owner and CEO of Cloud9.

Cloud9's new roster will make their debut at BLAST Pro Series Miami, which will take place on April 12-13 with a 250,000 prize pool.

What are you on about? This is the best lineup they've had since the major winning team fell apart. Cajunb is a great rifler with the ability to secondary call too. Vice might as well get a chance at tier 1, anytime I've seen him he's been relatively impressive considering his roles in previous teams.

Cajun was the second best rated playeri n OpTic after Konfig and he brings a lot of experience to the table having played on a championship team which is now astralis (TSM formerly). I'm not saying he's a good pick up, but he's definitely not the worst they could have gotten. On the other hand, I would like to see them do really well (potentially even take blast away from astralis) to shut all these people saying C9 is dogshit up. They've still got talented players and a solid igl in Golden they could be top 10 given time

But yeah C9 should rebuild an all NA lineup around Tim + Will, vice has potential so they could keep him and also scout some more young talents like wardell. Imo golden would be a better fit for NIP tho, I think the fnatic veterans (JW, Krimz etc.) lost faith him in and Lekr0 isn’t the best IGL.

Wardell is insane, but used to be very inconsistent. Haven't watched him in a while. I'm not sure about Rush, he was the weakest player in C9 (before Zellsis joined), and he doesn't seem to be as good as he was. Not sure about Vice. Hope he proves his worth and we'll see. Golden to NiP would be a good move as well. But tbh, I don't think NiP have a long future. GTR and f0rest aren't young and they'll retire eventually. Whether he joins NiP or Fnatic he'll be an upgrade for sure.

I actually don't know why people are so up in arms over this. For whatever it's worth Cajunb is basically the same level as Kio. Both are good players but neither will ever be top 20 again. Also versatile. They are actually extremely similar in terms of what they can do and where there talent is at. The fact that C9 posted this as a signing and Vice as a trial tells me that this roster is still far from being complete. The fact that these trials are also always young NA players that are sort of FPL shot in the dark types tells me it's an NA player they are ultimately going to try and go after when they do. Or they could sign Konfig in two months when Hecz figures out Optic is just not working. I don't really fucking know but that's what things seem like to me.
