Liquid scrape win over Cloud9; MIBR hold FaZe to draw

Liquid have picked up their second victory at BLAST Pro Series Miami after taking down Cloud9, while FaZe and MIBR shared the spoils in a keenly-contested Mirage game.

MIBR got off to a fantastic start on the CT side and raced to an 8-2 lead after preventing their opponents from stringing rounds together. FaZe then finally woke up and went on a run of their own thanks to some fantastic rounds by Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, who won back-to-back 1v2 clutches, bringing the deficit to a minimum before the end of the half.

MIBR came back from 8-14 down to secure a draw

The European team came out of the break still on the front foot, winning seven rounds in a row to get within touching distance of victory. João "felps" Vasconcellos and Marcelo "coldzera" David had other plans, though, and came to MIBR's rescue, with the Brazilian team eventually coming back from two match points downs to force a 15-15 stalemate.

Meanwhile, Liquid took on Cloud9 on Mirage looking to extend their good start in Miami. Maikil "Golden" Selim opened up the action in this North American brawl began with a 1v3 clutch, with Cloud9 riding that momentum to carve out a 5-1 lead.

A quad kill by Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski on a shoddy buy then put a stop to Cloud9's run and marked the beginning of a dominant run by Liquid, who kept the Terrorists at bay for the rest of the half to pick up a 9-6 lead.

Liquid had to work hard to beat Cloud9

Liquid carried their momentum into the second half and further extended their lead by taking the opening four rounds after running all over the Cloud9 defence. It looked like the iBUYPOWER Masters champions, the current No.3 team in the world, had the game in the bag, but suddenly they ran out of steam.

Cloud9 gradually grew in the game and put together a string of rounds, taking the lead at 14-13. Liquid were not willing to let a comeback happen, however, and won two in a row to claim map point before Keith "NAF" Markovic and Nick "nitr0" Cannella miraculously overturned a 2v5 situation to secure a hard-fought win.
