MIBR dominate Astralis; FaZe defeat Cloud9 in Miami

On the second day of BLAST Pro Series Miami MIBR managed an impressive win over Astralis (16-2 Overpass), while FaZe secured a comfortable victory over Cloud9 (16-7 Overpass).

The early game on Overpass was back-and-forth with teams repeatedly winning force buys after Epitacio "⁠TACO⁠" de Melo secured the pistol win a 1v1 clutch. In the end, it was MIBR that chained rounds together first and took the early lead, going up 8-2.

FalleN and co. put up an amazing performance against the Danes

MIBR's aggressive setup in mid then resulted in a two-for-one trade in their favor, with the Brazilians locking down the B bombsite to push their lead further- Astralis looked surprisingly uninspired on the T side, getting the bomb down only once before the end of the half, but were unable to add a single round more.

After finishing the half 13-2 down, Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif and Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz found openers in the much-needed CT pistol, but the Danes were unable to close out the round, with João "⁠felps⁠" Vasconcellos and Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David annihilating the A site defense. After a force-buy from Astralis fell flat, MIBR was able to swiftly close out the game map, 16-2, largely in thanks to an inspired, 24-4 K-D game from coldzera.

Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács denied René "⁠cajunb⁠" Borg the ace and got the pistol for FaZe who took control of the early game from the T side of Overpass, 5-0. The same continued on in the following two rounds, with GuardiaN finding an entry on Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta in the ensuing buy round to help his side extend their lead.

Converting on Daniel "⁠vice⁠" Kim's double-entry in round 10 finally got Cloud9 on the board, but there was no followup as Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer's spray-transfer in Monster netted him a double and his team another round, eventually climbing up to a 13-2 half.

Despite having a poor game overall, vice once again came up with a double kill to help his team win the second pistol, providing a lifeline for Cloud9. They built on that, reaching 14-7, but an A site lockdown by Dauren "⁠AdreN⁠" Kystaubayev ended that streak and saw FaZe finish the game 16-7.

Even Anders and HenryG pointed out that its nothing like Astralis are playing bad they got the scores on each guy which tells us that they should have won more rounds than they actually did............So it proves that its not Astralis having a bad tourney but others were having a fantastic tournament or they simply managed to learn how to counter Astralis

You really can't expect much from Cloud9 they had 3 days of practice but still did well. Even if they go 0-3 they still did better than most teams here against the top 2 teams despite of mibr just demolishing Astralis but I don't think It was a solid win.

MIBR was a fluke imo, Astralis looked great, coldzera was having a great game, Overpass is one of Astralis' worst maps, and it's Bo1. MIBR definitely can beat Astralis under these circumstances, but I wouldn't say they're back yet, and definitely aren't better than Astralis. C9 have been doing great I think, considering they don't have a full lineup - very impressive. Can't say much about FaZe, hopefully they'll be able to perform against NaVi and Astralis

I am very happy with MIBR right now, it´s not everyday you see Astralis getting rekt... Obviously Astralis is still #1 of the world in my oppinion, and obviously MIBR is not "back" yet to the old times when they were so dominant, but i see evolution... I see a very positive evolution and the more those guys play together the better they will get, so... Great Times Are Coming... At least I hope so... 16 x 2 on Astralis LUL This is better than winning the tournment, at least for me :-)
